Hello all,

 

Wonder if someone could help me with a quick question please. I made a S10 request to an estate agent on behalf of my folks. I was informed that Photo ID of folks would be required, is this the case? Thanks in advance.

So you made a request for the agents to cease processing your parent's data ? I do not believe that photo id is required. You might want to confirm with the Information Commissioner.

Cheers for quick reply buddy, I've asked the agent to provide evidence where in law it states that photo ID is required. I'll also check with the ICO as you have advised.

I cant see anything in the above that requires a photo id.. however, do speak to the ICO.. their help desk is quite good

What prompted you to use the DPA with an estate agent? What problem did you have.

 

A S10 notice requests the cessation of processing to prevent harm. In normal circumstances data protection requests are better addressed using the basic principles.

 

Please give us the whole history and your reason for the S10 notice.

Who is the Estate Agents...?

 

I'm guessing this has something to do with excessive sales calls or propaganda...

Please tell us more. And From my time at BSKYB, we didn't require photo ID to stop processing data.

 

It should be as simple as a letter or phone call.
