The pilot had a simulator in his home, I wonder if it's a case of seeing what he had practiced on the simulator would work, a sudden rush of euphoria and it all got out of hand, the equivalent of joyriding, run out of fuel, can't get back.

Something tells me that the plane was landed somewhere, rather than the worst case scenario?

I hope it has landed, and I don't think the pilot sounds like a terrorist. If nothing else, terrorists don't tend to be worried about gay rights and he clearly was concerned about the opposition leader who has been sent to jail because of his homosexuality.

So sorry for the families and friends of the passengers. I hope they are just being held somewhere and will eventually come home.

Definitely landed. There are emergency beacons onboard that can't be tampered with from within.

Would you include "crashed" within "landed"?

Would it make a difference between "crashed in deep ocean" and "crashed on land"?

If it crashed in deep water would that explain the lack of emergency beacon signal (so, similar to AF447, where "initial investigation was hampered because the aircraft's black boxes were not recovered from the ocean floor until May 2011, nearly two years later")

Alternatively, do you think this was "deliberate, hide in radar signal of other flight, then landing (rather than crashing ) on land"?

I have a funny feeling, that the aircraft will be found today and will overshadow the budget.

Unfortunately the chances are that it will be found somewhere in the Indian Ocean. The latest theory is a cockpit fire, where the pilots turned the aircraft back westward to the nearest airport, were overcome with fumes. The aircraft then flew on until it ran out of fuel. It is unlikely that the whole aircraft caught fire, as there would be debris over a large area. The aircraft is likely to have gone into the ocean mostly intact.

We could do with some help from you.

It is a mystery for sure - perhaps there is another "Bermuda" Triangle in the Indian Ocean.

Not at the moment. The satellite pings now seem to indicate the plane crashed in the deep south of the Indian Ocean, with no survivors likely.
