We are all on the same" song sheet" here. Upload the photos asap. Don't use the shower, it could be dangerous, the circuit may not have the correct breaker, it may not have an RCD, the wire to the unit may be undersized

Ah just found my certificate it called BS7671 Electrical Installation Certificate looks exactly like the PDF.

Now what you need to remember being a home owner if in future you wish to sell your property if you don't have this you will probably need to pay to get a certificate to prove the installation is compliant to ease the sale of your property.

That's the "kiddie" you need, with out it you will find it hard to sell.. but more importantly YOU will have to pay if not correctly installed in the first place.

"the contractor was the plumber, tiler and a sparky". I don't think so.... Well if he was then qualified to do none of them.

I know what the wiring is going to look like already. LOL

or if you have PDF as an installed printer drive use that

open a new message box here

hit go advanced below the message box

hit manage attachments below that box

hit the add files button on the top right

hit select files, navigate to your file on your pc

hit upload files

NB: you can set where it goes in the post by hitting insert inline.

Hi, I'm afraid I don't fully understand the building stuff, but just to add some legal stuff. I am not sure you have a contract here in the legal sense of the word. If there is any contract it would be between the builder and the local authority. Legally it is possible you could enforce that contract against the builder under what is called the Contract (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999. However the application of this Act can be excluded by the contract and you would not know whether this is the case unless you see the contract. As it is the LA's contract it is best to get in touch with the LA first and ask them to pressure the builder.

However the builder still owes you a duty of care. If the builder was negligent and his negligence damaged your property then he is liable to put that right. I suggest trying to get a written quote from another builder to fix the problem and sending that to the LA and the builder asking what they propose to do about it.
