HMRC Tax Returns automatic ?

Is there any way i can get them to start going this automatic ? for the past 8 year i have had to chase them by going to my local hmrc office and handing in my p60's but yet all my friends seem to get theres sent automatic without having to do any chasing

I have a question please.

 

Are you an employee? I imagine you are if you're getting P60s. Have you spoken to your payroll people if this is the case please?

Yes I work for the local goverment and no i was never sure what to do so i have always just took my p60 to the tax place to check

I think it's worth speaking to your payroll people, but maybe one way of getting on HMRC's radar would be to fill in your tax return online next time?

just been on the site but its really confusing, it asked me to sign up so i tried but that it asked me for a tax number that you can only get from a tax form or something but i dont have that

So have you had any correspondence from HMRC? I'd have thought that would have a tax reference number for you.

 

When I signed up to do tax returns online, I had to wait for my website ID to be sent to me, don't know if that makes any difference.

You should will also need a UTR (Unique Tax Reference) this has nothing to do with NI Numbers, its a completely separate number, you have to ask HMRC to provide the UTR number as they do not do issue it automatically.

yes thats what it asked me for and there was no link saying get a UTR now or anything
