Hello.

I've started on a PPI campaign but have absolutely no records of account numbers so I'm just sending SARs to the credit card companies I remember dealing with.

Problem is, some of these companies seem to have had their credit card arm bought out by other companies since my accounts were closed so who do I contact?

For example

I had an Associates card & a Providian card.

Now I don't know what happened to Associates

but I do know that Barclaycard bought Providian (after Providian became Monument)

but that was after my account was terminated

so Barclayclard won't have any record of me, right? :???:

Now I don't know what happened to Associates

Hi,

Associates was rebranded to Citicard, not sure about the rest.

Any advice I give is honest and in good faith.:)

If in doubt, you should seek the opinion of a Qualified Professional.

If you can, please donate to this site.

Help keep it up and active, helping people like you.

If you no longer require help, please do what you can to help others

Thanks for the info.

My dealings with Associates would have ended before the rebrand but I assume I need to contact Citibank for this one.

Barclaycard seem to have scooped up quite a few cc companies.

I'm just a bit unsure who's liable.

Are Barclaycard responsible for PPI claims on accounts for companies they've bought but were terminated before they bought them?

These are of course very old accounts so maybe I should just concentrate on the ones I'm sure about i.e. MBNA, Royal Bank of Scotland plus others.

Hi Mr F,

Regarding the Providian/BC a/c, can you say roughly when you opened or closed the a/c.

That'll help us advise who to contact if we think you're likely to get the data you need.

Are you certain PPI was involved on this a/c ?

:-)

We could do with some help from you

No, sorry slick. I could only guess at the dates. I would say that Providian card was opened 1997 and closed maybe 2002 but that really is a very rough gues.

No, I couldn't swear I had PPI on the account but back then I used to have PPI on everything so I probably did.

Hi Mr F,

Experience with BC suggests that you will not get data back that far on a closed a/c. However, as your a/c closed before BC came into the picture, you would have to contact whoever holds the data relating to when the card was actually run by Providian or Monument.

We do see cases where BC will admit to having some old data for 2002 onwards but they rarely provide it. They only refer to it in refunding PPI and don't give specific amounts and dates.

I'm in the process of trying to get a SAR for a Barclaycard, and a Providian card.

I was advised on here to send the SAR to Barclaycard. One person (I think it was OldRouge) advised to send to Monument, but I'd already sent it by then.

I did get acknowledgement, but no SAR, so have sent the non-comply letter. I await a response from that..

I've received a response from Barclaycard which shows I have had multiple accounts with them i.e. visacard, mastercard, loan & egg card.

They've given me dates & account numbers which is great so do I now need to fill in one of those FOS claim forms for every single account?

Sorry, spreadsheets? Is that for working out how much to claim for? I've no details just yet.

The PPI claiming is new to me I'm afraid.

My apologies, no. I should have said.

They sent me a sheet showing some card & loan account numbers with opening & closing dates of the accounts.

They returned my cheque as they thought the information they sent would suffice. They did add that if I needed further info & a full breakdown I was to return the cheque to them.

I assumed they meant the info they sent me would be enough to begin a claim.

its a bout time we amended our SAR letter

to state 'full statements are required on ALL ACCOUNTS'

this SAR is not just related to any possible Payment Protection Investigations'

but to complete my own personal records for future possible usage.
