Security Clearance

Hi Guys

 

Im about to start a new job and it requires 5 year security clearance.

Now what does this actually mean being a resident for 5 years or does it also mean anything else?

 

Im just trying to get my head around it thats all.

Hello there.

 

Are you able to tell us what type of organisation you're going to be working for please? And have you asked them about the security check? I don't see why they couldn't explain it to you.

It's a Satellite Telecoms company. I know there is a general jist on security clearance.

 

My criminal record is clear.

No CCJs etc.

I'm also a British national.

 

This is my dream job and I just want to make sure I get this

Security check means you are of perfect character and have an excellent work ethos.

 

Basically you have to be clean as a whistle.

I should be fine.

My only concern is the work tracing back 5 years.

 

One company is now defunct, another has been rebranded and im not sure if I could get them to confirm if I was employed there.

I also did some temp work too so dates are sketchy for that at best

I am also going through the same process. My understanding is that for security clearance you need to have minimum 5 year residency not 5 year employment record. But what I am trying to find out is whether you have to be in Uk for last 5 years consecutive or not? . As I moved to UK in 2004 and stayed here for 3 years. Then I went out of UK in 2007 for 1 year and at present it is about 2 month short of 5 years . Will it affect my security clearance ?

If they say 5 years residency then they mean consecutive years. There would be allowances for military etc

5 year security clearance just means they want you to prove where you been living/working or not the last five years,ie,what you have been up to in the last five years

Is it basic Security Clearance or a CTC?
