Hi,

I looked at my bank account 2 days ago to see that a company called smile finance have took £26.34 out of my account. I have never heard of this company before and I do not know why they have took this money from my account. I have tired to get in touch with them emailed them twice still nothing. I have even threatened to go to the police about this. Can anyone tell me how do I get this money back. I have not given anyone permission to take money from my bank nor have I ever spoke to them. Because they took this money I have now got bank charges of another £25.00. I have spoke to my bank and they said there is nothing they can do. Surely there is something I can these robbing gets will not get away with this. I just need some other ideas how to get it back. Thanks

If it's a direct debit, and you have not given them authorisation, you should be able to reclaim the amount by indemnity through your bank. This is part of the direct debit guarantee, and your bank should know how to do this.

In terms of any consequential loss in relation to fees incurred, you'll need to contact Smile. Do so in writing/via email - which I see you have done, so is a good start.

Others should be along to advise further.

£26.34 is their fee for applying for a loan on your behalf - assuming you haven't applied for anything recently?

If you're card is a VISA, you might be able to do a chargeback via your bank - and open up a fraudulent transaction query - else call them on 0844 7391162 and ask for an address to send a recorded delivery letter to, if you'e getting no response via email.

I can see from your other posts that you've applied for loans using other fee-chargeable loan brokers, and successfully had an application fee refunded previously. Could you have applied through a company that then referred through smile, passing on your card details?

Hi,

Yes I have had success with the company they tried to keep some of the money they took out but I had told them that I would take it further if they did. They emailed me the same form as yourself and I printed it off filled it in scanned it and sent it back within minutes . All my money was back in my bank account within 3 days. Good luck and don't let them keep any of your money x
