I'm aware of most if not all DLA receipients receiving an extra tenner around xmas, has happened for a number of years as far as I know.

I'm being pedantic, but is 'bonus' really the correct term for them to be using? :???:

Haven't had a letter, but I had my payment last week. I am going to be reckless and spend it all at once.

The real pathetic part of it is that the cost of notifying everybody of the "Bonus" probably works out at more than the "Bonus" because there will no doubt be a complete department and managers and auditors all involved in the operation of dispencing the "Bonus".

I know once Universal Credit is rolled out in my area then my son's DLA rates will change. However I've just been at a friend's house and shes been telling me that they are already making changes to DLA and that the Middle and Lower rates will be stopped soon. My son receives Middle Rate so obviously I'm a bit worried as he isn't due to be renewed for another year. Has she just got mixed up about the changes that Universal Credit will bring or is there some truth to what she is saying?

If you think you might qualify, it is in your best interests to make an application asap. People approaching retirement age need to be particularly careful as they cannot apply for it after retirement age. If you receive it before retirement age, assuming you still qualify, it will continue to be paid after retirement.

Any advice given by me is based solely on my experience in claiming, my experience in CAG or my opinion. I have no legal background. I want to encourage others to reclaim what is theirs.
