Hi Folks, this is an excellent site. I’m a newbie here.

Recently I broke my right ankle and now on a plaster cast and have to move around with crutches. The hospital doctor gave me a ‘not fit for work’ note for 6 weeks, when he will see me again.

I contacted my NHS employer, who was a bit shocked that I wouldbe away for that long and she suggested that I should go to work even with crutches, as some people have, she claimed then I told her that I can’t put anypressure on my affected leg, as it’s in a tip toe position. She later suggested I could work from home but then she get back to me. Now I am worried.

I am already quite stressed with my injury and the general discomfort as I have to raise my leg to my waist level, without being pressured to work from home. I mean I already have Doctor’s note, and I can’t understand why my manager does not seem to recognise this.

Does she have a point?

Hello again.

I understood there were health and safety implications for working while signed off as unfit, but I don't know if that applies to home working.

If it were my OH, he'd be offering to work because he'd be bored.

My best, HB

Illegitimi non carborundum
