I wrote to yb to claim my charges back a couple of weeks ago. I received a letter from them yesterday saying i could not claim any of them back. Now, instead of charging me £25, they have charged me 2x £35 . They have sent me around £250 worth of charges in the last month. Most of this is, because they are sending me so many charges, i am finding it impossible to get back to a credited balance. I have 2 young children and with all this from yb, i am really struggling. I don't get a lot of money anyway and yb are making it a whole lot harder for me.

 

Can anyone tell me what i can do now, if anything?

Hiya

 

Sorry i'm new to this, lol... yes its a signature current account now.

 

Usually, if i don't have the money in bank to cover my dd's, they give me until 2pm to get the funds in. But since i've made this complaint they are automatically charging me £35 and bouncing my dd's :|

 

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Typically O/D charges are not reclaimable unless you put in a claim under the hardship rules

Ok there are some more details needed...

 

You say that instead of charging £25 they are now charging £35. What are these charges for specifically? Are they the bounced DD charges?

 

When was the first of these charges levied?

 

What evidence do you have that the charges have increased as a direct result of your complaint?

 

When did this all start, i.e. when did you first go overdrawn and by how much? How much was the first charge they levied after that event?

 

How many of these £25/£35 charges are there?

 

Are you being charged anything on a daily basis for using unauthorised overdraft?

Hi kd. I suggest that you get a new bank account and get your benefits paid in there so that you get a fresh start. Most banks offer a basic bank account which has no OD facility.

 

Where possible use standing orders instead of direct debits for regular payments as you control what's paid out, instead of creditors helping themselves to whatever they think, whenever they like as they can with DDs.

 

YB may well continue to charge you, which you will need to sort out, but in the meantime you will have access to your money.
