I think that the NHS is a great idea, and is very good value for money and provides a more than good enough service. Its just a shame that so much money is wasted on red tape...But that seems to be life nowadays anyway.

I was misdiagnosed with epilepsy when I was about 18. After about 12 years of taking teh medication I was informed that I had been misdiagnosed and it was all down to my teenage years of drinking and not looking after my diabetes correctly.

The epilepsy tablets may well have made me lose a lot of hair :-(, that no one else in my family seems to have lost. I was advised by my consultant that I should continue with these tablets otherwise I will have to stop driving as teh DVLA would requyire me to be fit free and without tablets for about 2 years (from memory) before I could be given my driving license back. If I just stopped taking them and killed somebody in an accident I would (supposedly) be up for murder !!!

Has anyone else had anything like this, and was you able to resolve the matter. I'm still taking teh tablets to this day (17 years later) and of course this is just more expense for the NHS.

Look forward to your views.

thats nothing. a friend of mine has spina bifida and is paralysed. the nhs misdiagnosed her, her GP then entered incorrect data in her medical records to cover up the mistake so she was misdiagnosed by everyone else too (until she got pregnant when it was spotted by someone). the doctor made the exact same "mistake" with her cousin. their paralysis is both caused by the fact that medical professionals were saying they didnt need spinal operations when they did.

I suggest the most helpful thing to do is to liasise with the Specialist in Epilepsy.

Get them to write to the DVLA accepting full repsonsiblity on behalf of the NHS for mis-diagnosis. this SHOULD take the epilepsy record off your driving license, and then they should not be able to remove your license for a medical condition that unbeknownst to you never existed.

Simpel but none teh less good advise...Thanks.

I re-visite my Diabetic consultant (completely different hospital) and told him about my situation. He was much more concerned with teh situation than my previous consultant and has said that he will be looking into it and will write to me as soon as he has an answer.

Fingers crossed please ;-)
