I think that is your problem they have left the door open

the debt was not SB at that point in 2009.

as with all your debts and your many threads on them

the more you keep writing to these people

the more they will think they have found a mug to fleece.

who was the owner OC of this loan?

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Hi dx,

nice to hear from you.

The original OC of the loan was Nationwide back in 2000.

I do agree that the more you respond to these people the more likely you are to keep getting pestered by them,

so reading what you are telling me,

is let sleeping dogs lie.

as long as your cra file is clear of these types of debts

then its typically safe to assume its SB'd.

i take it this debt does not show CRA wise?

  • 3 months later...

Hi all, I have today received a letter headed Legal Review from EquiDebt regarding a debt that is over 10 years old.I heard from these people years ago and at that time I sent them a statute barred letter as I had not aknowledged this debt for years.

Do the following have anything to do with EquiDebt,Weightmans Solicitors & Shoosmiths Solicitors. This debt does not even show on my credit file.

I am wondering whether to put pen to paper or just to ignore them as I have done in the past.Any advice would be helpful.

If you sent them the statute barred letter then that should have been the end of that..

Whilst you could ignore them, I see no harm in responding by advising that you have already advised them that this Debt is statute barred and you will now be reporting them to the OFT..

The OFT don't deal with individual complaints, but every single complaint we all make to them, goes into their files, and when the DCA or CCL holder has to renew their licence, then they are asked to account for the complaints.

The OFT are also looking at changing this so that they can immediately suspend CCL of companies who receive a number of complaints.

I have been ignoring these people but still the threats keep coming.Today Tuesday I am in receipt of a letter from SHOOSMITHS LLP SOLICITORS,stating that they have been instucted by EquiDebt Ltd to contact me to agree how the sum outstanding from you will be repaid.Maybe I should send these people a statute barred letter, what are you thoughts?

I wouldnt ignore the solicitor.. send the statute barred letter to Shoosmiths by recorded delivery with a copy to Equidebt with just the free proof of posting.

Do you know if Equidebt have been assigned the debt or are they just acting on behalf of the original creditor ?

Is this still on your credit file?

Send flipflops the statute barred letter and a reminder you will be reporting them to the solicitors regulation authority should they continue with their puerile attempts to con you out of money.
