Latest from the Pitcher and Piano is that since Sunday they have been closing early but they don't know yet what measures they are going to take in the next few days.

 

A few hours ago Jury's were offering a full refund on whatever kind of booking, citing they don't know whether any restaurants and bars will be open in the area as there have been early closures in the area

since Sunday, some as early as 4 PM with the majority closing by 6 PM. The hotel itself is saying they have remained open as usual.

 

Wondering whether to cancel now as don't want a two night stay stuck in a hotel not being able to go anywhere else :|

I've been in Birmingham today and there was no trouble. Shops that were boarded up were all phone and electonics shops, but was fine and saw no trouble at all. We were a bit dubious heading back at 5.30 but when we got back to New Street station there must have been about 60 police that we saw outside and in the station. It felt very safe.

 

Just seen the local news and it was reported that all is quiet tonight.:-)

We're going to make our final decision tomorrow or even Friday morning 'cos we have nothing to lose apart from train fares.

I think it would be an idea to cancel whilst they are offering the refund. I think there will be a 'final push' at the weekend after the various anarchist groups have sorted out how to 'beat the police' and undermine the courts system. Plus there is the fact that three people have been killed in Birmingham.

 

I would rather face rioters in my own area then in a strange town where I don't have 'safe' routes to take.

Trouble with changing the date is that people have trains booked OD.

 

Just phoned P&P who are being guided by Brindley Place security. They're back to normal now so it's looking good. :-D

 

Might be worth you contacting your bus/train station to see what they have to say sarah. If pubs etc back to normal hopefully public transport will be too, or at least you can find out the latest times if they are going to stop early.
