unfortunately the reason you are having this discussion is because this does work and you are all trying to find a loophole. I am proof it works. This system has enabled myself and six other shops on the same road to work efficiently, our customers are delighted they can now park and shop freely. The only people who are miffed are the ones wanting to save money by parking in our free spaces and going off to london on the train or getting drunk in the pub and picking up their cars the following night etc.

We make it very clear what our expectations are and I have not seen an extortionate fine charged yet.

It is clear when someone does not understand how business works, everything in this life costs and if you try to wriggle out of anything there is always a cost to someone else. Just do the right thing in every aspect of your life and you will be a much better and happier person.

I realise you do not want to see anyone else point of view and unless you are open minded you will never get very far. I cannot continue to try to make someone understand who is not really listening, if you do listen and try to understand you might not like the person you have been all these years.

Good Luck

apart from the fact anything your [causing problems] agent charges is extortionate, simply because your car park is free

take your soap box and toddle off to Hype Park on Sunday, maybe someone there will listen to your rants and belive you, all you are doing here is annoying many who have told you the legal position, which you choose to ignore and rant on to justify what you think is right with some fuzzy rules you want to make up thinking you have the legal right to enforce them,

as for you comment's about people understanding business, many of us do , its your self and you fellow shop owners who think they are in the right to introduce a company of [problematic] to patrol your parking area , who have taken the bad decision.

put a gate on it and a man with a little box to sit in and restrict people entering if not using you little clutch of shops, because if you dont you can not stop people parking there, and if your PPC dont get enough tickets paid ( which is getting less and less these days as the the public become aware of the [problem] ) they will soon drop you if they dont earn enough dosh

Fairplayforall , i can assure you the likes of Parking Eye and many other PPC ARE driving genuine customers away from retail outlets with their scams.

You must be lucky but it wont be long before they prey on your customers with their idiotic scams.

hello all:-)

Agreed. I no longer shop anywhere with carparking looked after by ECP on principle.

My local sainsburys car park is "run" by euro. It has a very nice cafe, If you spend time in the cafe then do your weekly or monthly shop ,you can very easily find yourself caught out and facing a £50 "fine" as many genuine customers have. So , you find yourself faced with the choice of either using the cafe and then quickly doing a short shop or not using the cafe so that you can have enough time to shop properly. Or there is another choice, further up the road is a lidl with a totaly free car park and right next door to it is a Macdonalds with a totaly free car park and neither of them have any car parking troubles!!

hello all:-)

Mr Fairplayforall....the loss or damage you are talking about is not loss to you for not selling as much as you might....it is the material loss to the actual car park charge....and in your case is nil because it is a free car park! For you to re coup any loss to your business you would have to take the necessary party to court yourself which is a seperate matter and you would have to prove what loss that a notional customer may have spent in your shop!!!

Two seperate things here......this forum relates to overinflated illegal invoices issued by these PPC's.

Also their time and money spent on 'recovering any loss' and their 'wages' does not form part of their invoice.

Please, before you waffle any more, read up on English civil law, you might learn something.

By the way, remind us where your business is, so I don't come and shop there.

Did he appear on this forum as "Footlong", and is he the fellow that was involved in a dating agency?

Only I think that I heard that the women looked at him, and immediately christened him "inchworm" !

All of these are on behalf of a friend.. Cabot - [There's no CCA!]

CapQuest - [There's no CCA!]

Barclays - Zinc, [There's no CCA!]

Yes he is the legend (in his own small mind) Perky Perkins of the greasy Wolverhampton caff and big time wannabe lawyer. Last seen as "Looplotty" on Plenty of Fish and other dating sites. He might have got away with his "playing away" activities but as a sign of his superior intelligence he decided to register using a username he had used on this very forum. Although to be fair he has provided a lot of entertainment over the years on parking forums.

Footlong may well be him. It certainly covers his delusions of grandeur well. As for fairplayforall - parkingscamsforall may be more appropriate.

Makes you wonder what search Fairplayforall was doing before he came across thsi forum and then joined days ago? Actually I wonder if he owns the car park or whether it si leased or maybe it is just part of the complex of shops as it appears they don't have sole rights to it.

one post on MSE by guess who,

fed up of people looking for loopholes to dodge paying parking fines. Think about the people who own the car parks, this is their weekly wages and they have a right to earn money to pay for maintenance of car parks. I own six spaces outside my shop and people abuse it all the time parking for two hours to go for a meal or their hair done somewhere else, I pay the rates and keep it in good order for my customers. How would they feel if I parked on their driveway at home for two hours and went shopping.

  • 3 months later...

No updates for some time on here!

I have now received my 5th letter from Control Account........just a photo copy this time of the 4th one! Very unprofessional.

I have also, since that 5th letter, had a phone call from them.....they left a voicemail asking me to ring them back. I obviously haven't rung them back. (how intrusive is this getting!?)

Anyone else had similar ??

I only received three of the four letters in the chain. Feel like I missed out really. However they were very nicely printed. If they phone you again recommend a new Kodak printer. Cheap photocopies might make people think that Euro aren't taking it seriously any more.

I just wanted to say thanks so much guys for all these responses.

I got a ticket in July at Euro Car Park in Chesterfield for £70, jumping to £90 after 7 days, for staying 1hour and 10mins instead of an hour, when there are loaaaads of shops there, pizza hut etc..you rarely get a pizza hut done in an hour...it was ridiculous..

I wasn't going to pay...then last week I got my first 'credit control' letter and it did worry/scare me...I don't want to be taken to court of end up with an even heftier fine...but after reading this i'll just brace myself for the next letter then hopefully that'll be it :)

No need to worry, keep ignoring.
