Had to sell the tv (didn't use it much anyways) . Now wondering if I need a licence?

I do have a PC and I use it to watch "live" sport streams. But seldom are these also being shown on "normal" TV at the same time, though very occasionally they are available on a subscription satellite channel. The wording on the TV licence website is very vague and doesn't really define what "normal" tv is.

Any advice?

I would say yes, if the streams are live and on a TV channel at some point in the world (they actually removed the clause about it needing to be a UK broadcaster) then you technically need a licence to watch it. It is vague, though, and to be honest it is probably unlikely you would get caught. The whole iplayer/streaming thing blurs it but the law does say that you have to watch the shows as they are broadcast, it doesn't limit this to using a TV set - on demand is actually non-licensable, as is having a TV and not watching live broadcasts on it and you don't have to make modifications to comply, you just have to not watch it.

The above post constitutes my personal opinion on the facts in the post compared with my personal knowledge of the applicable legislation. I make no guarantees of its legal accuracy. If you are in doubt seek advice of a legal professional specialising in the area concerned.
