i doubt that the spoof antivirus caused this

typically thats not an outcome of them.

can you describe 'why' it will not boot

what happens?

right it turns on and comes up with windows error recovery screen and i click start windows then goes to load microsoft then goes blank and starts again, yes i didnt think a spoof antivirus would do this either , but then im just a mum and dont know anything according to the 17 yr old lol

vista or windows 7?

i think you are going to have to boot from a windows disc in the CD [you'll need to change the boot device in the bios]

unless there is a diagnositcs routine via F2 or F12 key etc

what is the lappy?

wont be load of windows, odds on it will be a hard drive sector error.

you need to get to the cmd prompt line

black screen with white writing like c: and a and a flashing underscore and run

chkdsk c: /f /r

can you get onto safemode command prompt only?

I saw this type of program a few years ago. It did exactly what is being described but after a while it let Windows start and then asked again if you wanted antivirus. the unsuspecting would naturally say yes this time.

Start in Safe Mode with internet and go here and do a Full Service Scan.

you need to somehow boot you pc into safemode command prompt only and run:

chkdsk c: /f /r

now you could do this from your windows CD [if you have one]

or maybe download and burn a universal boot CD

there are many on the net.

once you get a cmd prompt or use one of the harddrive utils on a UBCD it should cure it.

another way is to remove the HDD and place it as a slave on another PC by using one of those USB adaptors , then you should be able to run it from start/cmd/.

use a search engine:

Easily Boot Ultimate Boot CD (UBCD) from a USB flash drive | USB Pen Drive Linux

to be honest i'd rather get an external USB adaptor and plug the harddrive onto the pc you are using now and fix it that way.
