ill check the notifications when i get back to work however from looking at the images im pretty sure the 5738 is one of the ones that there is the known issue with screen cracks

i dont know if there is an official referance number with it but ill explain the problem as best i remember

there is a small rib in the inside of the rear lcd cover, this causes presure when the screen is opened one handed, ussually if your right handed it starts on the right side of the webcam.

thats a slightly differnt model but shows the issue, it can also cause one side of the "devided screen" to show either white or black

ok here we go

you need to check with acer what screen and revision is in your laptop, its the Samsung 160AT01 revision A01 and A02 lcds that have that issue.

if its any other revision all you can do is push to have it returend and assesed by an indipendant engineer im afraid

  • 3 weeks later...

Acer Aspire 6935G bought in My 2009 now loooking exactly like the pic in thread. Thought I remembered someone saying that there were certain models or screens tht were prone to doing this. Can anyone help with examples as that wonderful company PC World are insisting it was dropped and I would like to hit them with some examples of others experiencing the same problems

My laptop went flying last nght. Had it coming up to two years.

It hit the radiator, fortunately only damage a slight lip on one corner stainless steel bit, where radiator made impact with the laptop.

Fortunately there were some clothes on the floor and the laptop is in a makeshift case.
