I have now been charged twice for going overdrawn by £1-05 & £1-15 ... £60-00 in total, the charges to my account have been totally electronic ... what ever happen to Customer Service??? if i had been rung to say the charges were going made i would feel a little better ... not only is it affecting my wealth it effecting my health ... i am not a rich person and i do sometimes run my account close to o/d but what do i do???? I have now written to the bank, they inform that they have stuck up a deal with the FSA to suspend complaints until the court case is over (no help to me!)

I agree with Tilly, although sometimes you have to try and get through to your branch manager because the ones that talk to you on the phone, initially, seem to go on auto pilot and just keep refering to the test case all the time.

If you are usually good with your account and the little ooop's where you just miscalculated by just over a pound were just a one off, you should hopefully get the charges refunded.

Best of luck

I will ask someone to move your thread to the Nationwide forum as there will be more people there that can help you.

But do try and talk to someone at your branch, because if this occurance was just a one off, they may refund the charges.

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men.

Blessed is he who in the name of charity and goodwill shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children.

And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers.

And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Nationwide operates a refund of charges policy. Previously they would (almost always) refund the first time a customer had a charge.

Now they have what they call first time only refunds which only apply in certain circumstances. For example funds were paid in the same day or a cheque cleared the next day.

If this isn't the case all is not lost because you can still play the hardship angle. You may get a standard response back but its worth writing again (costs them more each time), tell them what £60 of charges means to you. Tell them you cannot wait until the resolution of the test case because the £60 will cause you to incur more charges.

The views I express here are mere speculation based on my experience. I am not qualified nor insured to give legal advice and any action you take will be at your own risk.
