I have been trying to get a satisfied default removed from my file and have been trying to get the credit agencys to help as the company who recorded the default are telling me to bog off!

Here is a reply from experian that I recieved today:

Thank you for your email, which we received on 14 January 2008.

As a licensed client of Experian, each supplying lender is obliged under the

Data Protection Act 1998 and the Consumer Credit Act 1974 to ensure that they

are providing us with accurate information. Consequently, we do not require the

supplying lender to provide proof of the debt.

As a company's licence to trade can ultimately be compromised if they

consistently fail to comply with the Data Protection Act 1998, it is not in the

best interests of companies to provide incorrect or unsubstantiated debts to us.

If you think any entry in your report is wrong we are obliged to contact the

lender to verify your comments or the validity of the entry and adhere to any

instructions to amend the information. If no amendment or deletion instructions

are ordered we are unable to amend the information.

For further clarification of this you may wish to contact the Information

Commissioner's office at the following address:

The Information Commissioner: Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, SK9 5AF

Kind regards

So I guess that is another bog off reply then! :D

Oh but luckily equifax removed it for me no problem.
