I am being chased by Transcom and Arrow Global for an alleged debt to Orange that is over 5 years old. Apart from sending a letter to Orange asking for a copy of the original credit agreement, etc, and sending Transcom and Arrow copies of this letter, is there anything else I should be doing?

A debt with Orange won't be covered by the CCA, Maggie.

The reason being is that such a debt is under a "service" agreement, to provide a mobile phone service to you, where you've agreed to pay the bill within 30 (usually) days of receipt - as such, there is no "credit" being provided that would fall under the CCA;

What you will need to do is start your own thread, like this;

in this forum;

That way, we can give you specific advice on your own issue, rather than clog this thread up and get your questions lost in the meantime.

By the way, take a look here, for my fight against O2, just to let you know what you're letting yourself in for. I'm not wanting to scare you (not yet, anyway! :p ) but this shows the lengths these guys go to to put you off;

Have you got any further details? A debt from 2001 should not appear on your credit file now as it over 6 years old.

Arrow Global/MBNA - Discontinued and paid costs

HFO/Morgan Stanley (Barclays) - Discontinued and paid costs

HSBC - Discontinued and paid costs

Nationwide - Ran for cover of stay pending OFT case 3 yrs ago

RBS/Mint - Nothing for 4 yrs after S78 request

I've been dealong with Fredricson International and their tame law mouthpiece Bryan Carter over a MBNA account that MBNA themselves admit trhat is now paid up (as per a copy of the last statement). Despite sending Bryan Carter copies of this statement I received a letter from MBNA saying they've sold this debt to Arrow Global. I'm getting a bit frustrated as to know the best direction to go in. Any oppinions would be welcome.

Regards

Mike
