  1. To play with the vagueness of the statement... 5%, assuming you haven't booked 6 months early? - this is based on the fact you and your girlfriend could be classed a family unit?!
  2. Mally - you will need to redact that further, your address (or at least an address!) is within the body of the text!
  3. I still can't believe what went on at Old Trafford. Plan A. Cross the ball Plan B. Cross the ball more Plan C. Keep crossing the ball.
  4. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0040GIZT8/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1634&creative=19450&creativeASIN=B0040GIZT8&linkCode=as2&tag=utf8a-21&smid=A2C8NF8GJAYOUY £72.99
  5. What is the make / model of the alarm and control panel?
  6. Apologies - I read it as a laptop. (It's Friday after all!) Apple TV is the solution then. About £80, and it allows you to send your iPad display to your TV. (The iPad to HDMI converters don't appear to work for the BT Sport app.)
  7. There isn't a BT sport app for smart TV's at the moment, as far as I know. The browser built into the TV doesn't support Silverlight, which is used by the bt sport website. The way I use it is to connect my laptop to the TV, so that the TV screen is effectively a monitor. Does the laptop have an HDMI out port - failing this, does it have a VGA port (A blue socket)?
  8. Our bank (citibank) title it as a chargeback when they notify us that a customer has done it to us!
  9. Through the DD guarantee, you can claim back (through a chargeback) for all monies paid by Direct Debit. It's called an indemnity claim, because of course, your mum didn't get a letter advising her of when and how much was being taken out! ;-)
  10. Windows has a high contract mode, which makes the screen black on white. This perhaps could make screen viewing easier. To turn this on press left ALT, left CTRL and print screen simultaneously. To turn this off, repeat the action.
  11. When I've had neighbours doing similar, I've been very tempted to go into the electricity meter room, and accidentally switch off the power at their meter. Wonder how long it'd take them to notice!
  12. Ask them what paperwork they need to do if the tenancy turns into a periodic tenancy. Diddly squat. Have a read of http://www.landlordlawblog.co.uk/2011/08/11/what-is-a-periodic-tenancy/ - especially the bit titled "Is a periodic tenancy a good idea?"
  13. Personally I wouldn't go in and sign anything, I'd just ignore them! At the expiry of your initial 6 month tenancy, your tenancy will turn a periodic ('rolling') tenancy, which continues until either you or your landlord make steps to stop it (you by offering 1 month notice, landlord by more complicated means!). You are not obliged to agree a new fixed term contract.
  14. I was looking at my contract earlier, and for my notice period it says "4 weeks, unless otherwise agreed with your line manager" or something along those lines. Does your niece's contract have a similar "otherwise agreed" caveat?
  15. I'm pretty sure my expired points were taken off when my licence address was changed, free of charge. Can't recall paying for it.
  16. If you're ever disappointed with what you receive this Christmas just remember somewhere, someone is unwrapping a Tottenham shirt.
  17. What version of windows was it running? As leigh said, it may be stored on a partition of the disk, which you can access during the boot process.
  18. No, you don't need a licence. "You need to be covered by a licence if you watch TV online at the same time as it's being broadcast on conventional TV in the UK or the Channel Islands." NASA isn't broadcast to the UK for TV purposes, nor are webcams
  19. Do you pay for the breakdown cover yourself, or is it a company policy?
  20. If the additional box isn't hooked up, they charge you for the entire Sky subscription for each box, not just the £11.25 a month. So at £50 for a monthly subscription, £1000 is about right!
  21. The guarantee states: If an error is made in the payment of your Direct Debit, by XXXXX or your bank or building society, you are entitled to a full and immediate refund of the amount paid from your bank or building society. Therefore you can reclaim every payment made to the organisation, using the DD guarantee. They then will approach you to claw back any money they can - but not using the Direct Debit authority as this should be closed as part of the dispute.
  22. A new router will have a new network name, you will have to make sure you are choosing the new network on your laptop too.
