I have never tried this before so I have no idea if it will work. I live in a sheltered housing complex with a communal lounge. In this lounge is a PC and a Fibre Optic internet with router. That is part one. The flats within this complex are being fitted with smart meters incorporated within a new fuse box and instead of being wireless, they are all being hard wired to this router via a box in the loft that connects 18 cables in and one to the router. My thinking is to utilise the Broadband connection within my home using: Two of these: http://tinyurl.com/hxl6wad (or similar)One to be placed nearwhere the cable enters my flat then use a long ethernet cable to the cupboard where I have my existing router but instead of using the router, use the second ethernet switching box My questions are Would this work? Would all the connections lead to a significant drop in signal? I did think of connecting the two routers together but it looks very confusing adjusting the settings of the router in my cupboard -
I am moving into my new house in two weeks so decided to get BT to change my supply over from the UK to Northern Ireland. They are coming out in three weeks to do the install, my only problem is that i have lost my modem. It was BT Infinity 2. That is not an issue as i have taken out another contract with BT for BT Basic, not infinity. That will be the copper wire job. Seems i will have to Ebay to get a compatible router Any suggestions on a compatible BT Router that will work on normal internet, not Fibre -

8 Days now and I've had problems keeping the Internet going as it keeps dropping, I have to keep resetting it every single time, I've phoned them up about 5 times and now I've given up hope The questions I get asked are: 1. Make and Model of Router? Huawai HG523a 2. Am I using wired or wireless connection? wireless 3. Is there any problem with calls, i.e. receiving calls for someone else? Nope 4. Am I using laptop or desktop? Laptop 5. What Operating system am I using? Windows 8 6. What Browser am I using? Chrome 7. Have I tested the test socket? Yes 8. Have I got sky tv? Nope 9. Can you switch your router off and on? do that everytime broadband drops 10. can you access this webpage talktalk.co.uk? yes when I reset router I've no idea what these questions have to do with broadband down time, but when I answer them, they reply with we've done checks our end and you have a connection. So there is nothing we can do. Seems they are oblivious to admit that the router is now faulty. What Is my legal stance on this and can I withhold payment from them, I sure am thinking about switching providers, this is the only time it's happened in 12 months -
Hi guys Could anyone point me in the right direction please. Just bought a different router for my laptop and broadband will only work when the cable is connected to the router and laptop, it won't go wireless. How do I get it to go wireless again please. Thanks Lola
