Depends if it is a stock item or a bespoke item. If it's from stock, go in, ask for a refund, then rebuy it for the lower price... Items from Stock If, after having placed your stock order, you have a change of heart for whatever reason, you may cancel your order at any time prior to delivery. All you need to do is advise us in writing either by post or fax (01525 289 616) direct to the Online Store, or by e-mailing us. Once we acknowledge receipt of your cancellation, you will receive a full refund using the same method as your original payment. A cancellation notice, together with your receipt, will be posted to your nominated address.

Did you get the windows disks with the laptop? (or existing windows software disks with your current broken laptop?) -
Windows Update
griffzilla replied to SOD'EM's topic in Technical Computer/IT/Console/SatNav Questions
If the above doesn't work, then uninstall the update through start - control panel - Programs and Features - View Installed Updates. It should be listed under Microsoft Windows as Service Pack for Microsoft Windows (KBxxxxxx) Hint - list them in alphabetical order. The groupings stay the same, but then it should be between Security Update... and Update for Microsoft Windows. -

Which version of Windows? -
Another way is to detune all the channels on the TV, and get rid of the aerial / coaxial cable. Don't have to alter the TV or remove anything within it.

There are always ways to tell if a recording has been doctored. Have a look at this link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-20629671 -
device drivers
griffzilla replied to silverfox1961's topic in Technical Computer/IT/Console/SatNav Questions
I realise that this has been solved now but.... The way to do this is to get the SATA drivers for the hard drive from the manufacturers website, and put them onto a floppy disk. When you run the windows installation, it asks you if you wish to load any additional drivers. I had to buy an external floppy drive to do this, but hey ho, it was only a tenner. This only happens with XP - newer OS's recognise SATA -
Without a check in / check out inventory, the landlord really doesn't have a leg to stand on. I would submit this to the DPS aberration scheme - when I recently vacated a property without an inventory, the DPS ruled that without a check in inventory, they could not award any costs to the landlord - even after we had agreed a cleaning cost.

The sugar donut I won turned out to be frozen... to be defrosted at a later point. I think I got 3 park lanes in one sitting.... the other half got quite excited!

Blackberry Curve 3G problems.
griffzilla replied to SOD'EM's topic in Technical Computer/IT/Console/SatNav Questions
Another thing to try. Does the phone have a corporate logo on it? Eg orange vodafone.... If so.... it may be locked to that network. To test this, goto Options (Settings), Advanced Options, Sim Card. Then type in M E P D Once this has happened, it will say network within the list. If it says Active, then the bb is locked to that particular network. -

Bu**er, was hoping that'd be the problem. Ok, next trick is to force it to register on the network. http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB00510 -

Does it show SOS in the corner of the screen, where the antennae icon is? -
Evening all, I'm posting on behalf of my mother, so I apologise for any vagueness! She is a teacher, who is approaching retirement age. Her headteacher has approached her to say that there is an option of voluntary redundancies at the end of the school year (Summer 2011). She reaches 60 in September 2011. If she took voluntary redundancy, could she then take her pension lump sum, and start receiving her pension from September? I hope this makes sense! Thanks, G

Anyone else noticed the missing question 17 from the census? Alas, it has been found... http://daveschneider.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/census3.jpg

Its possible. Perhaps, the server logs all incoming traffic to the site. It may be specific parts of the site (potentially hosted on different servers) which would have logs for these areas, instead of just the public facing internet site. From this, they have a definitive list of IP addresses accessing. A whois search on the IP address gives the ISP name. ISP then disclose details of account 'owning' the IP address at given time.

I'm very interested to know how a court order could prove that it was you that hacked into the work computers. At very best (and its not easy to get hold of) they could log an IP address, which at the time was being used by your household router. Quite a long winded process, as they would have to gain court authority to get the data from your ISP. Even then it doesn't prove it was you. Actually, the only other way they could trace a user would be through a username to access the system. However they wouldn't need a court order to access their own server records..... Doesn't sound like they are telling the complete truth though

IP address conflict.
griffzilla replied to SOD'EM's topic in Technical Computer/IT/Console/SatNav Questions
SOD'EM, I realise this is quite an old thread now, but are you still having problems with your IP address? There is a fairly simple method of securing your home network, which would alleviate your concerns re neighbours 'borrowing a cup of internet' - called MAC filtering. If its still bothering you, I'll post up some instructions. G
