  1. Ok you really need to find a new broker. They should be paying you interest with an LTV like that!!!
  2. Perhaps, but it doesn’t make any sense with the amount of deposit that you have and your income. What percentage deposit will you be putting down for the mortgage?
  3. Look at a Credit file default as a punishment, after 6 years you've served your time and it's over. In fact even if you had a couple of defaults 3 years ago on your file, it still wouldn't be a problem. Which is why there is something else at play here. As for the differences between brokers, when I went for my mortgage I had 2 different one's trying to get me the same product. One rang me back apologising , telling me that I wasn't eligible, the other one got me the mortgage.
  4. If there is nothing on your credit file. There is no way anybody can find out. It’s as simple as that.
  5. I’d love to help but as the site team I can’t make recommendations I’m afraid. Perhaps try Googling adverse credit mortgage brokers. Get it down to 2 or 3 and see what they can do for you.
  6. Ok, so the defaults have all gone? And there are no CCJ’s? Is that correct . My credit file is also excellent, very low % of debts etc yet I can’t get a car lease, I’m also at 4.8%. yours sounds better than mine. I think you need to find a better broker.
  7. Agreed, plenty of other factors could be at play here. Remind me. What’s actually still showing on your credit file?
  8. As a Canadian / Brit nationality, after witnessing Quebec separation referendum number 2 in November 1995, I can honestly say that indyref 2is a massive gamble for the SNP. There was a huge movement towards a 'free Quebec' in the early 90's which let to a sense of bullish confidence that Parti Quebecois would finally get their idealistic way on attempt number 2 and wrench Quebec away from Greater Canada. Turned out that on the day of their precious referendum, a few thousand more people voted against separation. it was 0.1%. Cue shrill accusations of fraud and , lots of anti semitism, the Jewish Community in Montreal, got their vote out on this one, along with other ethnic minorities. But in historical context it was the end of the Quebec nation dream. Sure there were some death throes, but looking at my second home of Quebec now, millenials couldn't care a flying walrus. What I'm saying is, by all means have a second referendum, but if independence loses, it's gone for ever!
  9. Yup and another thing to be aware of with Capquest, another one of my debts with them went statue barred 2 years ago, yet they still send me inane texts, and calls occasionally. Naturally there is stuff and all they can do, and i always ignore it but it shows you how desperate they are to find someone to mug.
  10. Yup, all I can add is that I was a victim of a Backdoor CCJ from Capquest, my fault for moving and not writing to them with my new address. It sounds counter intuitive but the Best and most important thing to stay protected is to let your creditors know you are moving. Always in writing too, good old fashioned Royal Mail.
  11. Default date isn’t on the calendar section
  12. It’s important to note also, do not get on the phone with these people. Either ignore their calls, or if they do somehow get through to you ‘Sorry, I don’t give out information over the phone, you are welcome to write to me’ Phone down.
  13. No chance of that. Have you changed address since you started paying this off?
  14. They have mugged you left, right and centre. Nothing to be ashamed of, you have now found the right place for genuine advice. You would have been better off never paying them a penny! Do not pay them any more!
  15. I’d call that a win. They may never receive documentation and finally you are allowing your statute barred clock to start ticking.
  16. You are not listening to me, none of that matters. What you did or didn't do, they have no right to make these ridiculous demands. Please listen do my advice as I instructed.
  17. Stop there is no court at any point in your future in this case. You need to go to the Tax Credits Web Site and request an SAR. This will deliver you every minute detail that they have relating to you. It's not impossible that they have made a mistake somewhere along the line. I don't understand why you didn't call and ask why you had been issued a fine, why not do this today? No need to be confrontational or nasty, just find out the reason.
  18. Oh my God, HMRC make me laugh, on what planet are they on to think that somebody who is financially vulnerable enough to need Tax Credits one month, suddenly has £10k laying around doing nothing, 4 weeks later.. Their heavy handed collection methods have probably driven people to suicide, and now they are trying it on in the middle of the worst Public health crisis of the last 100 years, when people are at their lowest. Please understand that no mistake you made gives them the right to demand random amounts of money out of you for no reason. If you want clear instructions on how to deal with this I am happy to advise on what to do via this thread. As they have been into me in the past for a whole lot more than £10k.
  19. Exactly! Sending your address to them in writing is actually quite the opposite of ignoring. After that it is quite safe to ignore their silly begging letters. The time not to ignore is when a letter before action is received.
  20. Yup, none of that sounds right. Let's see the letter
  21. No worries about showing your hand. I went for a mortgage holiday for 6 months. Not only did it not go on my credit file but I managed to get onto a lower interest rate afterwards so my payments actually went down.
  22. Hey why not ring up each of your lenders and ask if they will give a payment holiday due to losing your job because of Covid. See what they say? If it affects your credit file etc. That’s what I’d do!
