  1. No direct impact no. If it had been bad it would have helped but not a problem. Could someone flag this for Andy to come and have a look at. As for the solicitors make sure it is one that specializes in consumer credit law. You may well be able to win without but i wouldn't want you to come a cropper
  2. Just checked. It was 2006 that it changed from 7 to 14 days. So it looks like a good one. That's a shame
  3. The title says it all. This is meant to be a community but i am being stopped from participating and no one will tell me why
  4. As it's over 5000 you might want to seek legal advice. Some solicitors do this on a no win no fee basis.
  5. Have a check of the default notice as well. If you can post it on here ( minus personal details) and someone will be able to help.
  6. Sorry Lisa when i was talking about originals i meant the original of the credit agreement. You always cca request the person dealing with the debt so in this case RW. I can not help on cpr but i am sure stella or Andy are the men to help. There is a similar thread somewhere about a defence when no cca was produced.
  7. I think there may be some confusion about original. My understanding it can be a genuine copy of the original. Correct me if i am wrong. However non compliance of a cca request is an absolute defence. They can not enforce but what is classed as enforcement is defined as up to and including the serving of papers. Not sure which judgement it is. But you must defend.
  8. It may sound silly but have a read of all the small print about cancellation.Unless it says you have to cancel in writing giving 7days notice you should be able to tell them to go to hell
  9. I would pm you worried but the powers that be have removed that privilege. Not sure what i have done to offend.
  10. I wasn't suggesting you were a nut case One on this forum is enough thank you were,i don't need the competition. Now how are we going to deal with this ?
  11. Totally. So does anyone know of a campaign to try and stop this at the 11th hour
  12. To be honest i didn't know about the Mayan thing until i saw something on T.V. It may not be the actual end of the world but could be a rebirth and a new way of thinking and living. I mean we do not know why the Mayan civilization fell in the same way we know about the other great civilizations the world has known. The world can not carry on the way it is forever.
  13. I was actually talking about the Mayan calendar and the end of the world/ shift in behaviour that some people are waiting for. As for Bilderberg not sure what you refer to,the group or is there a theory about that as well.
  14. Next someone will say it's a conspiracy. After all 21/12/2012 is getting closer
  15. You misunderstand. I was not blaming anyone or anything. I was expressing options and different points of view. Your argument about the banks although in my opinion fairly accurate could be countered by the question,if Labour hadn't deregulated the industry would we be where we are now. You dislike the argument put forward about cuts, i was saying it is a valid argument not the right one. You say our income tax is low but how does it compare with the overall tax burden.fuel.tobacco.vat. Insurance tax.air duty etc etc. I do not know how it compares. Again you talk about the banks so i only assume you feel Labour are as much to blame as the Tories?
  16. With respect, some ppi reclaim will not really make a dent. I assume its the same in Scotland but you would both need to go into formal debt arrangements. Your debts are lower so maybe a DRO is good for you. I would get some proper advice
  17. Worried, while i have no political agenda i think you are forgetting a few things. 1) Our defect is getting bigger year on year. This is unsustainable. Having a surplus is not unusual because that is used to reduce the national debt. 2) We were loyally screwed before the election so you can hardly say all was well under labour. 3) Labour failed,in my opinion to be prudent. They knew the crash was coming, yet carried on spending. 4) The theory goes that if you reduce costs for business and reduce the higher rate of tax, businesses will be encouraged to grow, hire staff and thus boost the economy. Alternatively you can spend public money that you don't have and employee more people and hope to grow the economy. The downside to this is lower productivity, jobs that do not have a purpose etc. A prime example is the work on New St station. People are employed to stand by crossings or sit on platforms,it strikes me as being very very unproductive.Maybe if we had not spent billions on Afghanistan and Iraq we could have more. Reading your post it would appear that you are pro labour,as am i socially, however they are not really different to the Tories. Most of the things you are complaining about were not changed by labour economy. On the other hand you can hardly
  18. Great well done. It's a shame it ever got this far and caused you so much stress. Comments like "if it's not on your cra file you don't owe it ever" really do not help anyone. But well done. Keep us up to date
  19. With respect i have some serious questions about your post. You started asking for advice on sending out offer letters after working out a budget. Now however you are saying you are not going to make offers until you finalize a new job on a yet to be arranged salary. You budget is therefore meaningless. You say will not pay eon because they made the bill up but you sound like an intelligent man and probably are just angry that your monthly payment was set too low and you have a balance to pay. You refute advice because your finances are connected to your partner, yet you took out a DRO which is a personal debt relief instrument. You also say no one is bothered about debt collection these days,I suggest you read these boards with SD's flying about and ccj papers been served as well as people been driven to despair by DCA's .Finally you insult many many good people who want nothing more than a job yet for many different reasons, location.skill set.experience etc can not get one. If you are lucky enough to have the pick of jobs you may not need pure help.
  20. I know it's because we are generally the ones with no access to the opinion makers. Also as a rule we are less well educated or articulate. Sorry to generalize but it's true.
  21. You know if you are not working then if it was me i would offer £1 per month. I assume you are neither married or in a CP and as such you finances are yours.
  22. Worried. I am glad you are getting your benefits sorted out. I think you should think about making a complaint, of course depending on the outcome. As said before the local government finance bill is not yet law so why have people not mobilized as opposed to just posting and hand wringing. I think i may just write to my Tory MP. Now talking about the deficit, firstly there is an argument that says cutting taxes stimulates growth and thus revenue, just as increasing public spending does. Alas no government can just keep increasing the deficit year on year. The last Tory government cut it and alas labour thought the growth would continue so didn't save for a rainy day. I am no lover of the Tories.
