  1. On the assumption the money came from your salary, you already paid tax on it, this is you getting the tax on that payment back. Pension input payments are tax free I assume you are not in the higher tax bracket, as you would principally get 40% back. Depending upon your company you may be able to pay the same amount, which would come out before tax. But there is no real benefit to you.
  2. Would he get all the money back? It's a 5 year old car and it seems to be an electronics failure. I can understand a proportional return, but I would expect a 6 year life would be argued on the ECU? Don't get me wrong, I would be pushing the dealer, but...
  3. I would expect parts around 200 and about a days labour, so not much change out of £500 for a small independent garage, as they get bigger so do the rates
  4. I thought it was now a legal requirement to have auto renewal on car insurance?
  5. With so few miles I think you would have some scope. However as the car is potentially at half life I think the 50% deal is not too bad, you may be able to push them a little more, but I don't think you would get a warranty replacement for a car of that age. What does 50% represent by way of cost, you may be able to get them done by a specialist for less?
  6. I think the car was £45k, not just the seats However the age of the car is only one part, the mileage is a significant factor to wear. If the car has done say above 100k, then that may be deemed to be reasonable. While trying not to be rude, heavier set drivers also tend to stretch the seat, especially getting in and out, so the door side gets the most damage. Were you the first owner?
  7. When you say someone sold you, was it through a company or a gumtree type purchase?
  8. But then you would not be parked in a bay and subject the the 'might' of the parking company
  9. My point was do you think the parking co's will have their act together to actually get enough signage to say you can only park a Tesla at a Tesla point etc etc EDIT: But I'm sure you got that!
  10. Hi This really is a hypothetical question, Whilst not trying to outrage the EV owners amongst us, lets say I go to a service station in my diesel car and park in a Tesla EV charging place (Other EV chargers are available) could I get a ticket? I would assume Tesla have come to an agreement with the car park owners to put their equipment on the site, but I would expect it's unlikely that the car park operator would update their signs to say no parking in the Tesla spots without a Tesla etc. I know blue badge / disabled places don't actually have any standing, but they do tend to cover that notion on their signs along with parent and child etc. As I say, hypothetical question only.
  11. You mean like this one form a well known hotel chain who employ a comedian to say how well he sleeps in their beds
  12. If it's old enough possibly rust and it was swapped and sprayed. It would be a bit odd to have bonnet/tailgate damage and no bumper wings etc.
  13. What colour does it say it is on the V5?
  14. Do you have any other gas appliances, like a combination boiler? They draw a huge amount of gas when heating water
  15. It's possible your gas supply is not capable, was it installed by a gas Safe engineer, did they check your meter with everything running, including gas boiler/fire etc if you have one?
  16. Are they planning to pay you for the other 6 weeks notice?
  17. I read it will be Tesco staff who do the monitoring? It's so flawed though. I park in parent and child, take my baby seat out the car to put in the pram or trolley, no more evidence in the car I have a child. Equally I'm not convinced it actually describes what age/size you are a child.
  18. I'm not sure about the X5, but my 5 series showed 70,000 on a new set of pads. The problem with the computer estimates us that they rely on the driver history to generate the future use. So if the previous owner was very light on the brakes the estimate would be high, even although the discs were fairly worn. What milage is on the car and has it had a recent mot But as above I would not trust BMW, ask them to show you the pads. Also they do have a habit of changing the discs and pads at the same time, when pads would do!
  19. On the assumption it would be pitch black at that time in the morning, can you tell if the second image it taken in the dark? It's obviously not dark at the time they suggest. The other possible thought if he did not go back, the plates could be cloned and their double dip has picked up another car, if he is planning to go back I would ask to see the video at the later time, that might tell a better story
  20. Agree with the above, punctured a pair of boots due to some grit on the inside under the insole. Wet feet are no fun. My last pair of leather boots with good wax finish never let me down. I know it's no help, but you may find the response from TNF is user error.
  21. I'm just checking your last line, you are not planning to pay are you? Eric's brother has confirmed they are not compliant so would loose in court if they decided to go that route. Interesting also there are no marked bays, but their terms specifically comment on them existing. Really don't worry and definitely don't pay!
  22. Does it say on the ticket that it needs to be placed face up on the dash, by the sounds of it no, but it's worth confirming. I would not worry about it for now, someone will be along to tell you how to not pay this, but in the mean time do not contact them until you get the correct advice.
  23. Thanks for that, missed the no insurance line. Sadly I think they are going to be out of pocket then.
  24. Autocorrect. Should have read random Beko manual and Beko report !!!
  25. I've just had a look at a random Beko manual. In the installation section it says "Do not make connections via extensions or multi-plugs" With that in the manual I don't think you would have a leg to stand on with a claim. Insurance time, just need to hope they don't read the fire brigade or Beko report. They could go down the route of not following manufacturer's instructions and make life difficult for you.
