  1. Thanks DX, The reason is that they said they would take it 50 miles, when the guy turned up he said 10 was their max, so it could not go to the LR dealer to be fixed as they were 25 miles away. That resulted in LR only paying for the part and refusing to pay for the labour charge as it was not a dealer repair.
  2. So, hopefully an easy answer to this one. My car broke down in November 2020. I had no recovery type support so I called RAC. They read the standard terms, Mechanic roadside, or recovery truck up to 50 miles, that is not in dispute. I knew the Land Rover dealership was about 25 miles away. Eventually I got a text message to say they were on their way. A subcontracted recovery driver turned up (non mechanic) and said they will only recover to 10 miles! At no point in the discussion with RAC did they say they may subcontract the work. This resulted in the car having to go to a non dealership garage (although LR Specialist) which was within 10 miles. I complained to the RAC and they said it was recovered to a garage and so I still needed to pay, end of story. I therefore contacted the back and they did a refund on the payment after I sent them prints of the RAC website etc. This was in early December. Roll forward to today when I get a letter from RAC telling me I needed to pay. I called them up to confirm they reversal had been made by the bank to be told they still want to money and will be putting it to debt collection, the guy said what the bank did was nothing to do with them and I was the customer, not the bank. I am waiting for a manager to call back, as there were none available!!! The financial result for them not taking the car to an LR dealer was that LR refused, reasonably so, to pay for the garage labour to change the failed part, this cost me about £300, the RAC charge was £149 So, can anyone tell me, can they actually put this into debt recovery after a bank do a reversal? Where do I go from here, I really don't want my credit rating ruined by these clowns!
  3. We had a green carpet in the lounge. There was a rug in front of the fire. After a couple of years my wife fancied a new rug. When we lifted it the carpet was a totally different colour to the rest of the surrounding floor. The sun had bleached the colour out and under the rug was the original colour. It really does not need too much time to do it. I expect the expert may suggest the sunlight has caused the problem and it would be very difficult to argue the case.
  4. Ad blue (or lack of) would not make an engine seize, it is an additive to the fuel that improves post combustion in the DPF/Cat. These days vehicles give a warning if the AdBlue is low and go into limp mode if empty, this is not because of potential damage, rather a requirement to ensure you actually refill it to maintain documented emission levels. If the engine seized it is nothing to do with that, but would potentially seize from a coolant leak?
  5. I have to say I’ve never had any issues with Tesco and I use them almost every week
  6. I’m fairly certain Tesco specifically note items that are short dated on the delivery note to allow you to reject them quite quickly. On this basis I doubt that they would specifically go for the short date items as they end up with more work by the time they not only refund the money, but also have to return the items to stock. In these days potentially scrap them too!
  7. From the GOV website on car aircon Check for leaks You’re legally required to prevent F gases leaking from mobile air conditioners, so you should get your technician to regularly service it and check for leaks. If you’re a technician that services a mobile conditioner, you share responsibility for stopping leaks with the owner of the vehicle.
  8. I’m not commenting on the money. But as it’s a refrigerant they should test the system in the first place to ensure it can maintain a vacuum. It sounds like that may just have refilled it without testing first.
  9. There is info on the .gov website regarding this. I would give that a read before doing anything else.
  10. Just seen some MP a has wound up Mr Bannatyne about payments and he is planning to go to court, be interesting if he follows through
  11. You can get the warning messages interrogated at an independent, this also shows what’s been reset in the past on most cars. You could consider getting this done to see if it confirms your suspicions. But please double check that they can get resets on a Jeep
  12. Was it only a change in title or were there any physical changes to the role?
  13. Can I just say Viesman boilers are one of the best around. Obviously if they have not been fitted correctly it can lead to problems. Power flush is the favourite costly add on for installers which is not necessarily needed. Chemical cleaning and magnetic filters give a much better result long term. Drop a message onto the Screwfix forum, some really knowledgable installers on there.
  14. On the basis it was a direct debit from the bank. Why did you not use the DD guarantee and insist the bank refunds the money.
  15. Just a quick update. Amazon refunded the costs on their A to Z guarantee. Still waiting the hear from Ebuyer though!!! Last time for them.
  16. If the car has a previous questionable repair would it not be better being written off?
  17. Technically they don’t, but without knowing we would potentially insist on 14 days off sick (containment). I’m sure you know the results are not what you would class as accurate, so we will not take risks. Her employer is only protecting its workforce. If an employer is seen to be the source of an outbreak they can be shutdown for deep cleaning and directors could be fined.
  18. Thanks for the message that is what I thought. In the mean time they have sent another message, below, I can’t follow up with Amazon until 48 hours. But I will go armed. “Your return period is 30 days with ourselves and then you are covered under the manufacturer’s warranty.”
  19. Hi, just a quick question to get my facts straight I purchased a Polar smart watch from Amazon on 14th April 2020, it stopped communicating with my phone about 2 weeks ago, I've spent the last couple of weeks in communication with Polar, try this, try that etc. They have now said its faulty. I went onto Amazon to file a return and Ebuyer have closed it with the following statement " I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with your item. Given the age of the product the warranty is now held with the manufacturer. For the quickest resolution please contact them on https:// support.polar.com/ uk-en and they should look to repair / replace the item for you. You may require a copy for your invoice as proof of purchase. This is generated directly through Amazon. This is done via the drop-down menu on the order / purchase history page on your Amazon account. " I thought that my warranty was via the supplier? Are they able to bypass this and push me to go to Polar directly, F ailing after 6~7 weeks to be told "given the age..." seems a bit wrong Thanks
  20. Be very cautious of doing that. Many coatings are oil based and are damaged using soap. It’s not a good idea.
  21. Parker’s is quite a good place to go. You also get prices on autotrader I think
  22. Cant answer much, but furlough scheme was extended to 19th March, so the new company should be able to do it if he started before then. have a look here Furlough date
  23. I’m not sure the govt documents actually use the word essential with regards to working. Rather it is essential to work from home unless that is not possible and then you can go to your place of work as long as social distancing etc can be met. They may consider that keeping records up to date ensures supplier payments, keeps tennents from being sent late payment notifications etc which it may not be possible to do that from home?
  24. To be fair Apple have child accounts which have the ask to buy feature, this requires an authorised adult member to say yes to the purchase. Did you have that switched on? Apple and Google offer the same games on their store. In app purchases are very common across all types of App from games to business. Purchase authorisation is covered in their T&Cs I would suggest Apple will say you are responsible for letting the children access an account that could set this up without them understanding the implications.
