  1. glad your mum is well - give her my best... did you enjoy your outing last week through our part of the world and beyond??? hope so. thanks empowered - you know i luv ya!
  2. here are the totals - money from online sponsors £510 (of which £471 is from CAG peeps) money from offline sponsors £295 total from sponsorships £805 (an additional £162.32 will be added through gift aid) I'm very, very pleased with that result. Am writing a cheque to Cancer Research UK for £295 tonight. I thought a quick update on the people I was running for might be appropriate. Gill has had her last radiotherapy session today and is looking forward to going back to work - she will shortly start on Herceptin for approx 1 year. Karen has at long last overcome most of the back pain associated with her reconstructive surgery and has gone back to work part time. Tracy has just started on Herceptin. Diane is hoping for an all clear and awaits her third grandchild anytime now. George has just finished an intensive 6 weeks of radiotherapy and is hoping to go back to work. Dennis H is enjoying his retirement and playing lots of golf. Dennis D (my nephew with the strangely named fuzzy cell anemia) is still undergoing treatment for his blood cells but still teaching university in Missouri. Bernard also looking forward to an all clear and currently looking for skeletons in our family tree. Vic a dear neighbourand a lovely man, at 88 is battling hard against liver cancer and the asbestosis one as well - he has only one lung working but continues to be positive and with his dear wife Jean is looking forward to their 60th anniversary in September. and good friend Les, he has finished a course of chemo and has now started on another chemo - this time just a tablet. He remains optimistic and is feeling stronger. He is back to being able to do things and is going to make me a bat box. Chris - you'll have to let me know how your mum is doing... I've always believed that a positive mental attitude is a must and will continue to support them when and where I can. I had some very special reasons for wanting to do the Race for Life and I'm glad to have participated. to all my supporters a big THANK YOU! especially to Thailand GuidoT Pink Duchess Castlebest Bookie JohnnyMitch Jailbird KnellyK HillaryFrances Tilly MrLex and for her astonishing generosity in giving me her compo money from MBNA - a special thanks to Empowered what stars you all are!!! my love, my thanks and a big sloppy kiss for each of you XXXXXXXXXXXX! I'd have done the run anyway but it was so much more successful because of all you guys! Thanks again (and again and again). Ok, still 19 weeks til my bus pass - now what do we do for fun?????
  3. gyzmo - let us know how you get on. i've got fingers, toes and everything else crossed for you... hope this works out for you!
  4. i agree - and books are the best. i never pay more than £1 - often much less and the book sales are the best. i stopped going to the library because i read in the bath, fall asleep and drop the book - apparently libraries frown on this for some reason and ask you to pay for the book - paying £16.50 for a Barbara Taylor Bradford was the last straw. It wasn't even a good book - so now I only get books from charity shops and most are slightly puffed up from having been a bit wet once or twice - who cares! can't go by without looking at the puzzles either - but it never fails to make me laugh when i see them with a "2 missing pieces" written on the box - like THROW IT AWAY!
  5. i know everyone is pizzed off with the government right now - but voting bnp isn't the way to show it. bit like jews voting for hitler. i can't vote here but think those voting bnp were misguided to say the least. he does look good in egg -- doesn't he!
  6. paladine - a basic bank account is def. what your friend needs - several banks offer them - although asking at the branch - they sometimes aren't very helpful - as basic bank accounts make the banks no money - so they don't ever push them - you may have to apply by post. my son has had no problems with his halifax basic account which he opened after years of bother with hsbc. here is a good explanation of the different types of accounts Types of bank account : FSA Money made clear - products explained here is a table of the basic bank accounts on offer - Basic bank accounts - FSA Money made clear - products explained

Continental Airlines will not accept for travel any customers not complying with this Government instruction. Local host country restrictions may vary by country. your bag looks ok - i make it 97.5 and with 18kilos to play you - you can take all your necessities! bon voyage (although i think we may hear from you a few times more before you go!) all the passports up to date???!! a family from hull (no comments please) had to stay home last week - because they didn't have their passports back - and had paid extra for the post office checking them out. complaining like mad but ultimately it's your responsibility to have an up to date passport (with at least 9 months left on it) and also - - - the u.s. has started as of 1 jan this year - requiring a visa - so i'd double check canadian rules - although with it being commonwealth - they maybe aren't doing that. just check. ok, that didn't size right - but you've got the link.
  8. maybe i should start a new thread called AFTER i get my bus pass!!!! sounds great!
  9. last night in pub a couple were celebrating 50 years. what a cute couple! got up and danced together and everyone clapped. (and free food!). but i agree - each to their own. my sister was married for 20 years and has now been divorced longer than that. she's the happiest and most contented person i know.
  10. getting most of it in - i'm sure glad i don't have to go around collecting from you guys - imagine the bus fares!!! that on-line donation thingy was brilliant. so, it's looking like £510 online, £295 offline - and still need to collect £66 - so, another few days i'll have it all and send it in and close down my fundraising page. I'll tot up the gift aid and give final total later. Glad it was last week - this morning i did my back in doing housework (i have a pillow that says housework won't kill you but why take the chance - it's right!!!) better now - but have had heat on it all day. guess i'll live! almost your last chance!!!!! Race for Life - Lattie's Fundraising Page - Please give if you can
  11. off to the pub to collect lots of my sponsor money, hopefully - wish me luck! Race for Life - Lattie's Fundraising Page - Please give if you can it's not too late!!!
  12. it's about time i start with the hints for my o/h. (else he forgets!) 30 june we'll be wed 33 years. got together in germany (met in a disco - he thought i was german and i thought he was so we danced a couple of dances without a word), proposed in hull, wed in california, been here in hull for 25 years (haven't lost my accent at all). two golden rules have served us - he gets friday night out and we go out every saturday night together and the other rule - never-ever go shopping together.
  13. you can track them down!!! just click their name - go on their file and find a more recent post and blob it with the comment - good info on the......thread.
  14. well now missy hilaryfrances! - that puts me over the £800 mark. most impressive when you consider that £471 of that is from people on this website. even taking away empowered's monster donation of £200 that's still a massive amount from cag members. i'm awed by the generosity i've been shown. still collecting from workmates and won't see the pub peeps until saturday but should have it all collected and in within a week or two. thanks again hillaryfrances and everybody!
  15. it was my pleasure! you wouldn't have believed the messages on people's signs - so many people whose lives have been affected. over 5400 women all with these pink signs on their backs - it was impressive to say the least.
  16. well, bookie, yours should be iridium account customer (i googled to see what was better than platinum - i've never heard of it!)
  17. aww, shucks jm, (blush, blush) i know pd has mo sewn up but couldn't i be eula - another of your leading ladies? kh is more my style;) have a good day, everybody!
  18. fan-dabby-dozie, mr.lex - you are da man!!! thanks for that - and in record time as well! i truly hate photos of me - but this is in a good cause and ultimately - you guys have never seen me - so maybe it's not me at all! but, it is.... i gave my medal to gill because she deserves a medal for all she's been through. and so do lots of others - let's hope the money helps to find cures before more lives are lost. my total at the moment is £794 for cancer research and £461 of that was from CAGgers - my humble and deepest thanks. it's not too late if anyone else wants to earn my humble and deepest thanks... Race for Life - Lattie's Fundraising Page - Please give if you can
  19. It's just like the number 28 bus here in hull - you wait and you wait and then 3 come at once! lol Thanks Bookie and Sod-em - I'm sending them to Mr. Lex to handle but I'll keep you two in reserve.
