  1. I don't get all this talking about something very personal and private such as your sex life. I may be hetro and enjoy swinging and orgies, why would I want to tell me old mum that?
  2. Yes, it was horrific. When I was a lad some player broke his leg really badly like Eduardo and he ended up having it amputated! Thank God surgery is now more advanced. Let's hope he can return as good as he was, but Gazza was never the same player again.
  3. I think the police are entitled to withhold any info they wish in a Subject Access Request and there wouldn't be too much you could do about it. Also, you yourself couldn't just submit a CRB check as it has to be via a registered agency. An enhanced CRB check will record everything, even an arrest without leading to a charge. Although you could submit to disclosurescotland which will show a basic check. So a Subject Access Request may not show the arrest but I'm sure an enhanced disclosure would should you ever need to complete one.
  4. Surely the 'hard pressed single mum' who wanted to buy a £299.99 Playstation from Argos should really have recognised the 'hard pressed single mum' bit of her situation in the first place?:-? My sister is hard pressed at the moment with children but any money she has are going toward essentials. Those who have bad credit always get a raw deal whatever they want to buy. Either the system changes because I can't see the point in highlighting just one firm out of thousands.:-?
  5. I've received paperwork from Black Horse for an old loan paid off in 2004 and included is a lump sum added to the £4.5k loan of £403 and the policy is described as 'Life.' Now would I be correct in thinking this would only have covered the loan repayment on my death and for nothing else, such as unemployment cover? Does anybody have the details of this cover? I was told I had to have this cover despite having life cover with my job at the time-so it would never have paid out anyway! SWINDLERS!
  6. The £1 fee is not needed as the account has closed. This is what Northern Rock told me and they returned my £1 postal order but also enclosed the agreement copy.
  7. What about the gents briefs Crusher? Jeremy Paxman seemed to think the quality had got worse so sent them an email complaint!
  8. I got about £25 with my first pay packet aged 15 (yes, we could leave school and work then) and I put it all into a fruit machine. It taught me a lesson and I have never really played them since except for the odd quid a couple of times in 30 odd years. If people can't learn their lesson then tough luck, but there are plenty of people who enjoy playing them and are sensible, although I fail to see the attraction. I see no difference to somebody spending £100 a week on junk food or £100 a week on fruit machines, both are a waste of money but the former is also unhealthy. We do not need a nanny state telling us this and that, people should have responsibility for themselves. Sorry gyzmo, but I find it a case of meddling in peoples lives.
  9. Ok Ell-enn, it is a bit confusing. This is what I have written down from her- Her normal monthly payment is meant to be £600 on the 15th each month. The DWP pay on the 22nd direct to them £280 which is mortgage interest relief which began 22nd October (but paid 22nd November in arrears) as they do. I paid the full £600 on 15th December and will tomorrow 15th January again £600. So, yes, I can pay her monthly payment but they will also receive the £280 from DWP so £880 in total each month. I went with her to DWP and I said I can pay her mortgage but will she be stopped the mortgage relief but they said it was fine as the lady said it is better to keep my sister in a house than the DWP having to pay even more benefit and she ok'd it and didn't class it as income, she was manageress too. So mortgage express know that at the worst the arrears will be paid off in about 12 month with monthly payments also up to date but they want to be paid up £3k arrears in about 12 days! I also told them via her letter that I hope to pay it all off sooner for her just when I receive my money in about March and even this is no good! THE LEECHES. And she has an interview tomorrow for a job which is promising. Why are they so hard as nails? Everything is back on track but they don't care. Also, mortgage express are part of B&B who got taken over by Gordon and they say they will not repossess until 6 months but she is on 5. And the letter says they will seek eviction within 15 days of the letter, date 12th, but the new guidlines say 15 working days as the new protocol!!
  10. Name all. Should any be incorrect then they just have no case to answer but at least you have covered all bases. They should inform you if it is an incorrect party in the defence.
  11. My sister received a letter from her mortgagee threatening an eviction warrant 'within the next 15 days.' She tells me this- 1 In November 2007 she received a suspended possession order for £4k arrears. I sent a letter to the court which she took that I would clear the arrears for her in January 2008-which I did. This was put on the order and complied with. 2 She paid her monthly payments for Jan, Feb, Mar & Apr 2008 but then only paid dribs and drabs from May to November. She has effectively missed 5 months. 3 From November 2008 the mortgagee receives the interest paid by the DWP which leaves her to pay the rest. 4 I paid Decembers full mortgage payment and now Januarys for her and the mortgage interest from the DWP is £280 each month which is going toward the arrears of £3k. 5 I personally checked with the DWP if I could help out my sister financially and they were quite happy with this. 6 In summary, monthly payments are now being met and they are receiving £280 per month off the £3k arrears. 7 Mortgage Express are obviously unhappy with this as they want £3k paid up now or evict. Can I do anything? I don't have the money right now to pay all those arrears.
  12. According to you, increasing the jackpot on fruit machines will encourage gambling addiction yet reducing the cost of a pint will not encourage binge drinking! How does that work?
  13. I thought this country elects a political party to rule rather than an individual? Sure passed me by!
  14. As a republican the last thing I want to do is defend the ruling class but this is quite simply ridiculous. Due to the ignorance of those who made the law of this country we have situations like this where nothing was properly considered in the first place. Instead of educating people that what is actually seen as an insult, by english speakers, means nothing more than like a Brit being called a Brit.
  15. I thought this thread was going to be a kicking for Prime Minister Brown.
  16. The Welsh were indigenous to this island long before Britain was called Britain. The Scots travelled from Ireland, the English were a Germanic tribe and the Northern Irish was just a country made up by the English. Pakistan roughly translates as 'clean people' and thus 'paki' translates as clean. Hardly an insult. And why is not considered racist to call somebody from Afghanistan an 'Afghan?' Like a Brit is from Britain:confused: But yes, I'd say Harry is daft but only because he's ginger. Ooops Gingerism!!!
  17. The main problem is with these is that you have to claim something like 6, 8 or 10 months down the line by which time the cashback company has ceased trading but you are still in a contract with the mobile phone company. Its a swizz but I thought they were now outlawed?
  18. Have you tried using your old one by holding up your puppy to your ear and talking up her arsehole?
  19. Some places are a sanctuary for men and the bookies is one. My betting shop was next to the pub and we could go in there on a Saturday afternoon, have a pint and take it in the bookies and have a couple of quid on the gee's. There would always be colourful language and banter and sometimes worse with angry customers who lost all their money. There are nutters everywhere especially like in a bookies. A 4 year old shouldn't be exposed to that. And I know to place a single bet can only take a minute or so but anything can happen in a split second. Could also be from that dope last week who was jailed for taking his young children on a bender with him and the turf accountant are being careful.
  20. Yes, I understand where you are coming from having so many cats but I have one so I can afford to feed her good quality food. I have her insured too so she 'costs' me just £3 a week and she's worth every penny. I must say though that my vet said not to feed her or any pet rubbish food and all that cheap stuff stinks the house out too.
