  1. Tired of coronavirus now Want to get back into work and I can't as just so wheezy doing anything at the moment
  2. Seems like the freeman of the land twaddles caught on again https://www.nottinghampost.com/news/local-news/tearoom-quoting-magna-carta-stay-4699966
  3. I was working in a well known cinema chain once - someone had parked a brand new car directly under the camera and it was stolen Went to get the footage off with the manager, turns out when they put the new system in a few months back he had assumed it was like the old one and automatically overwrote It didn't and had ejected a tape months back which no-one had noticed Errors are common with cctv systems so it could quite easily have happened - most shop systems are basic dvrs and depending on the number of cameras and the hdd size can easily be overwritten in a couple of hours and he may not have realised this previously
  4. Thanks andy Seem to have had a fairly stock reply back saying sorry for the poor service here's 30 quid - which reading online is their usual offer The only update is they have sent their engineers report which hadn't been sent previously which said a new radiator was required "at the earliest opportunity" - this is the same person who said we were fine to continue They have also said they will look at any reports about the damage when received which is fair enough BIL (ex mechanic) had a look today, radiator is shot looks like there is a decent crack across the bottom in his opinion He's going to put us in touch with a garage for the none starting issue, he doesn't think the gasket has gone but suspects its a piston ring causing compression issues, he's doesn't have the tools to check this anymore hence garage
  5. General reply from rac They won't even give an answer to the complaint for 20 working days Am I the only one that thinks this is unreasonable?
  6. Correct bankfodder I am Got a friendly mechanic coming to look at it some point next week he's said not to attempt to run engine until then Sorry its been a long week of constant issues and brain fried completely Will get complaint about service in first and mention that we may be looking further depending on mechanical report
  7. Apologies if this rambles slightly I feel a little brain dead after yesterday I just want to know if I'm being unreasonable in one of my points (holding them responsible for costs to possibly damaged engine if I can get an engineer report) Basically broke down in a layby on the a43, steam from bonnet high engine temps RAC arrives declares it a minor leak and tops up then says OK to continue (4 miles to services) then recheck and says fine to drive home 30 miles later large amount of steam from engine and lose power, get it to hard shoulder Next rac chap arrives and says it blowing like that may have damaged engine as it now doesn't start, says it will need a crane truck as 4wd and auto says priority job as 3 children on hardshoulder in the rain (1 in wheelchair) 3 hours later, I've chased rac twice and been rung by highways agency twice (who have also complained to rac) Tow truck arrives (flat bed) advise them we were told it needs crane and drive says its OK it will run, after cranking engine for over 5 mins drives it onto truck pouring fluid out the bottom I can't help but feel that him cranking engine that much when pouring fluid is likely to have done alot of damage as well as being told to continue on a leaking engine
  8. Doesn't help the case but I can definitely attest to hire vans being driven badly Hired a Luton van once, my car at the time had an automatic handbrake Yea I kinda did a 25 mile drive with the handbrake on the entire way, only realised when one of the wheels started smoking Admitted it to the chap at the rental place and he said not to worry it happens a lot, apparently brake shoes are his main business cost
  9. Pen testing is one of the subjects I looked into, although daft things like this get into the media its worrying how many unsafe devices are around our homes Home security cameras are a prime example, most come with a default password - it's amazing how few people change it Remembered to change it and feel safe? Don't, with a lot of them you can dump the devices memory remotely convert it to strings and it gives the password in clear text Home Bluetooth devices always seem to have the same pins And if you don't know where to find a device there's maps of them on the Web as people do drivebys to discover them It really was a worrying subject
  10. If its any help our 6 birth bailey pageant bretagne 2008 was 8,000 about a year ago in good condition Unfortunately it too now has a slight spot of damp, it's common around the front right window for some reason (point to watch on the next one) I'll be fixing it myself because it's just a couple of beams and a new window seal but be warned damp can be very expensive and hard to fix
  11. As they have promised to match/beat rates I'm not over worried as I will switch when fixed rate ends But I just signed up to one at below bg rates so let's see
  12. I'm hoping it takes a few weeks Mainly as I just signed a new fixed deal but it doesn't start until the 12th Annoyingly I have to manually move the feed in tarrif
  13. Currently working from home Internet hasn't been an issue yet however I'm using a 350mb connection, with an unlimited sim on one network and another 125gb sim on another for backup Space has been a minor issue as I have 3 kids however I set up a home office in the caravan which has been working nicely It also solves most of my confidentiality issues as I'm the only one in there
  14. Morning all My wife works at a school and they had their preparation meeting for next year, in this they were told that neither pupils nor teachers would be allowed to wear a facemask My wife queried this as she is on the clinically vulnerable list and she is looking after a special needs child who is also extremely vulnerable due to health needs but also has special needs as well and will spit/sneeze/put fingers in mouth (his and hers) etc She's been told extremely forcibly (to the point of coming home in tears) that this isn't an issue and that she will still not be allowed to wear a mask She's upset over this to the point of wanting to leave the job as coronavirus would be not only a big risk to her but most likely deadly to the child and she's worried about it passing either way My first thoughts were that she needs to ask for a risk assessment, she has one from 2 months ago where they list as clinically vulnerable and the "solution" is to keep her in the staffroom but they have obviously decided that this will not be happening next term They have said she can have a bag of antiseptic wipes, hand gel etc to clean down after the child however she will have to provide this herself Any thoughts past asking to see a new risk assessment
  15. From experience I can say this is about standard for garden buildings direct We had a log cabin summerhouse and shed from them about 3 years ago The sheds main roof beam was supposed to 1 8ft beam - we got 2 4ft ones and had to attach them together The summerhouse ended up missing a short (7 inch x 4inch) panel which took phoning on a daily basis and finally pointing out I worked about a mile from their base and would stop in if needed to get sent The tar paper tore like wet tissue paper and needed replacing I will admit to looking at using them again however simply because the shed is fine, there has been issues with the summerhouse but for what we paid it was worth it in the end
  16. I'm not so sure We were in fracture clinic at our local hospital recently and they were complaining about being out of small gloves, one of the nurses tried to use a sanitiser bottle to find it was empty and was told by another nurse there was none left to fill it up...
  17. Tired of hearing this now I've got a headache, cough, aching joints and am constantly tired and I keep getting people turning around when I cough and telling me I shouldn't be out Had a slight cough for a couple of weeks so it's not a good chance its related (although it has got worse) The acheing joints is due to sleeping on the floor (have to be in living room to help wife sleeping on sofa with fractured knee) And the headache and tiredness is just down to dealing with 3 hyperactive kids all day Only good thing is work is talking about arranging work from home
  18. Yep sat work is common Reading down his hand bo0k it doesn't say anything about not being allowed Saturday it seems to be a local managers decision The hand book basically says holiday decisions are made on the basis of the number of people off
  19. Just a quick question in relation to the father inlaw He's trying to book a week off at his workplace He's been told he can book the weekdays but that it's company policy not to allow people to book Saturdays Instead they have told him that he can only have the Saturday off if he swaps it with another worker Is it legal to refuse to allow holiday just due to company policy or just bad practice?
  20. I'm going to be the odd one out here as I don't mind my pension being taxed I still have another 30 years to go (or there about) but I would find it odd if you had a large portion of the population not paying taxes I'm lucky in that I have a very good workplace pension, a private pension and (hopefully) the state pension - it's meant going without the odd luxury here and there but I felt it was important to get a bit away for the eventual retirement (which talking to people my age makes me the odd one out) After all its taken out of my wages before tax so why not pay the tax later down the line
  21. ... I think the sheer lack of replies might be down to how aggressively you have gone on about other people's opinions I personally have no issues with grammar schools - didn't attend one mind you
  22. Got a text message saying my bill payment had failed, checked my bank account and indeed it hadn't come out Logged into my ee, checked and only last month's bill had come out Like an idiot tapped the link in the text and filled in all my details... 2 mins later realised what looked like a reference number in the link was actually a dodgy website name Rang banks [problem] line they've cancelled card, also said other details they took cannot be used to access account Checked the big database of passwords and the one I used is only in use on two sites, so changed that Most of my online accounts have 2 factor authentication on, my banking password is different, they didn't take pin, I have an action fraud number I feel like a fecking idiot, it's literally come through nearly the same day the bills due out so I just went with it
