  1. Just lie................................. One-legged poly amourous icelandic goat herder married to a sheep. H
  2. No, it's not. Just as GAP and other insurance's, when supplied and used correctly, this type of insurance can save the driver\owner a fortune. Some diamond cut alloy's are over £1,000's Rim protectors won't help all the time and a replacement set of tyres may not have them at all. Not useless at all. Generally, generalisations like the one above are sweepingly unhelpfull. Or wrong. H
  3. Absolutely no help but..................... Hamster is far too old for Acne. Hamster has Anxiety and panic attacks. Hamster has Asthma. Hamster has a chest infection right now. Hamster has had Covid - Yes, thats right, at one time recently Hamster had Asthma, Chest Infection and Covid all at same time. Hamster still has cough. Hamster spends max 1Hr on big weekly shop. 1Hr a week. Hamster wears a mask. There are medical exemptions of course but most people caught maskless think they are special, exempt or invincible. Hamster personally knows people which have died from Covid. Makes Hamster really mad. H
  4. So is that it then, massive panic and plea for help then nothing............................................. Disappointing. H
  5. Continuous is not the same as forever. D&G DD's can be cancelled at any time. Online, by phone or by post. It does help though if you know already that you have one. You win. I'm out. H
  6. DX. I have no wish to disagree, but, on this particular point, the renewal documents are clear and the DD mandate is continuous until cancelled by either party. It is not necessary to 'sign' a new one each year. H
  7. Much to the disgust of many on here, I have one of these policies. It is described as 'D&G Appliance Care'. I don't think that is ambiguous. H
  8. Hang on, I'll get into trouble for this but really! 12 years paying a DD you nothing about.................... and then you blame D&G. They would have notified you at your last known address or email at each renewal, every year, with ample opportunity to cancel each year. 12 Years!! Bad things happen in the world of CAG but you really must bear some of the responsibility here. H
  9. Google locally advertised 'Mileage Adjustment Services'. It is not illegal to adjust a mileage only to gain money from lowering a high mileage. It might cost you but it can be easily sorted out. H
  10. I hate it when threads are not 'finished'. So here is how it all ended. Step Mum went into Care Home 23rd of December. Had a Good Christmas. Care home rang 8.30am New Years Day to say come in to us quickly. Step Sister had time for a train from Surrey. We were both with Step Mum when she passed. It was as good as it could possibly have been. RIP H
  11. How are we doing with this. Do you have windows or is it really cold? H
  12. My Step-Mother, bless her is very close to the end in a Care Home in my home town where I currently live. My Sister is in and lives in Surrey, currently in Tier 4. Can she travel to Tier 2 for the impending funeral? Most people say, Just do it! H
  13. I'm always surprised by the number of people who don't open their post. I love post. It is better though if you don't dismiss it as irrelevant until you have read it. How big is your pile of post, or is it a static size and you just open the oldest first and put new irrelevant post at the bottom to open in three months time. H
  14. Whoa BF. Be careful. You could be heading for sympathy. H
  15. The University of life........... Sadly, most students don't make it to Graduation. H
  16. Why not take it as a compliment and use the experience to push for promotion. H
  17. Hi Fuu. My technical analysis is I'm afraid not going to be very helpful. Unlike the High Pressure Fuel Pump failing, high mileage BMW Engines are well known for these type of failures. Both Petrol and Diesel. I know it's no help now but I wouldn't advise anyone to buy a high mileage BMW, even with a full Service History. Even for £4,000. They are just not reliable. The Warranty, Guarantee, Insurance, whatever they call it is really a Mechanical Breakdown Insurance which covers most mechanical parts but only from sudden mechanical failure. For instance, the rotor snaps in the alternator without warning, a wheel bearing collapses or the wiper switch fails inside, that sort of thing. Almost always the company behind the warranty will try and use fair wear and tear as a reason not to honour a claim. Sadly, I would suspect they are right in this case.
  18. It is usual that a Motor Factor wanted your details. They were already doing you a favour in two ways. Firstly, they are a trade outlet and wouldn't normally do a buyers remorse refund, after all they are a Motor Factor and not Marks & Spencer. Secondly, they extended an arbitrary return period to accommodate you. The least you could do in return was give them your name and address. They would not use this for marketing. Rather it is good accounting practice because if anything suspicions was to occur they could trace the refund to you. For example employee theft, if refunds were allowed willy nilly and without control that could be very bad. Your details are a perfectly good form of financial control. Looks like you have blown it. H
  19. Well, those above are my thoughts. The 9 posts on a BMW forum on a different Continent may give you some comfort. Luckily post No.5 from N1DAS cites the same poor fuel quality explanation as I state. I think you have to separate the 'accusation' that 'you' have mis-fuelled the car with the fact that your fuel is contaminated. No-one is saying you or husband did it. Only that it has happened. If you can get BMW to contribute all well and good. H
  20. Further to my previous answer. Fuel contamination is not uncommon. It can be caused by many things. Usually it is noted as a mistake by the owner at, or shortly after. fill up. The AA has commissioned a number of vans just for this eventually as it is so common. The contamination can also be caused by the filling station letting the tanks run low or letting them get dirty or water contaminated. The water causes corrosion in the very finely machined parts of the fuel injection system causing wear and swarf. It can also be caused maliciously, if the Diesel Tank level is low, only 5L or so of Petrol can cause havoc. There are also documented reports of Red Diesel causing problems as this is free of duty & tax. The fuel is bleached and sold and not very well looked after................... If, as reported, there is swarf in the fuel injection system then this has to come from somewhere, it doesn't just appear. There can be many causes. It is also possible, though unlikely, that the problem originates from the fuel pump itself but I have to stress this is rare. I know on here there is a penchant to 'Stick it' on the selling Dealer and someone has to be to blame but, as often quoted in court, sometimes bad things happen and nobody is to blame. The OP has had the car for nearly 12 months and done 7,000 miles in it. A BMW fuel pump failure would be rare, even rarer would it contaminate the rest of the system. (Anyone remember the timed Lucas DIP's of the early 80's!!!!!) A way forward may be an independent report by a fuel specialist. A quick Google search brings up 'Intertek' and 'Crown Oil Services'. There are other companies but what we want is an analysis of the fuel and the engine oil. Usually a bottle full is sent and Chemical and microscopic analysis might determine the cause. If the right test is requested this can detect Petrol in Diesel. I remember standing in front of a client who swore blind the vehicle was not mis-fuelled whilst he was holding an independent report saying it had been. As a start the repairing BMW specialist can draw off a clear bottle of fuel from the injector spill or return pipes and leave it overnight to settle. If no sediment is found you can also pass it through fine fabric to filter any particles out. Having said all of this. If the vehicle is correctly flushed out, bled and refilled from scratch. Engine oil and filter changed and a fuel additive such as Millers Diesel Power EcoMax used in the next few tank fulls it might last 600 or 6,000 or 60,000 miles. Good Luck H
  21. If the fuel system is indeed contaminated with swarf, how is this Stoneacre or BMW's fault? If it is swarf then the actual or probable cause of the failure is almost certainly a breaking down of the case hardening of the pump rotor caused by a lack of lubricant. Lubricant which is present in Diesel and not Petrol. We may never know how the Petrol got in. H Oh, and for the avoidance of doubt, yes I am suitably qualified to give an expert opinion and I have in the past appeared before a Judge to give evidence as an 'Expert'.
