  1. It's not fair to just to cut us off, it would be nice if someone could give a run-down on how it was sorted and the final outcome, maybe we could help someone else in future using the solution used here. Hammy
  2. I with DttB, maybe i was harsh too. And I agree with Coniff as well Hammy
  3. Hi all Right, before we start I tried, really I did, to make sense of this. Sadly I failed. Gibberish. You bought a car of the internet in July and it came from Cornwall. You then went to Cornwall for a holiday and it broke down on way back home, AA attended. Temp repair made to fuel pipe. You fit new fuel pipe, Peugeot fit a new pipe, local gargae fit new pipe, all broken, can anyone see a theme developing? Then someone fits used pipe for £40, no receipt Gatwick and back to London it's OK, but you notice it crack at 29 MPH, that's very observant you even noticed you were in a 30 Zone. So, you are still in Gatwick, fule pipe broke, you call Green Flag, what happened to the AA? You get it recovered to another local garage who fit another pipe + thermostat and anti-freeze, where did they come from?? Cracked on way to Watford, diesel everywhere. £55 on Diesel and it stopped with 1/4 of tank, did you not observe the deisel pouring out!! Why did you have to cancel night shift, there are numerous other way's of getting from A to B temporarily. You only get £60 for a night shift, that's slave labour. The timings all wrong for a car bought in July, now in local garage. It's not he garages fault, this has been incorrectly diagnosed all along, if it want's £200 to fix it it's not the garages fault. Go back to Cornwall and find seller, show him all broken pipes and get some money out of him. Don't buy any more cars off the web. Hammy
  4. A scan would be better, not that I'm suggesting anything. Hammy
  5. Well, after being unceremoniously thrown off the origional post by the heavies, I firmly beleive that the OP should be left to struggle along and sort out this mess on her own. We are silenced if we doubt her word. This is not what a moderator should be there for, they should moderate, not strike up friendships and silence people for not siding with the mods mates. Good luck with it, I say. Over and out. Hammy
  6. It is, we just can't refer to it in the origional tread, thats all.
  7. careful, don't upset or disagree with the regulars. The MODS will come and take you (well your posts anyway) away. Free speech is ebbing away........................... Hammy (I'm in for it now............................ "Exterminate")
  8. That's torn it, fun stops here folk's. Someone, prob'ly Coniff, has reported us to the authorities Mod's involved. Got to get all serious agian even if the tale is getting a bit far fetched. I don't think I've posted anything not relevent to the plot................... Censorship awaits. Hammy (Serious Face)
  9. Hi there Ady347 £363 might not be that excessive, i'm not familiar with this particular model but, £363 ex VAT is £309. i suspect the fronts are different to the rears but dividing the cost by 4 gets us £77.00 a bearing inc labour, £50 labour, £27.00 for the bearings. 2 Years ago!!! Let him take you to court, the work was done without your authority and you will mpost likely win Hammy
  10. Blimey, now someones Mother is involved. I'd like to keep my nipples on thank you. Hammy PS Finally something I don't know (that dosn't happen very often!!). What's a bear garden? Is it like a beer garden, but with bears.
  11. I shall admit it, guilty as charged, the Seat Belt Stalk reference was a bit of a p*** take. Coniff made a completly OTT statement on another post about life and death. This way it was worded was an imflamatory quote designed to "put thoughts" into the other posters head. Presumably this is the way of this particular forum. Someone makes an error, lets make them 'em pay, all the better if it's a garage, typical Motor Trade sterotyping!! I'm all for justice etc but most thing's can be sorted with a quiet word, round the back if necessary. Phrases such as "Put you your family and pets lives at risk" don't help. If the poster has never, ever, made a mistake then fair enough, we all make mistakes, it's how you address them that keeps the customer and their confidence. I'll shut up now, until someone else has another unnecessary poke at the Motor Trade. Hammy
  12. Blimey, I'm glad I didn't say all of previous posters things. I think the posts are OK as long as we don't upset Coniff or call Freaky's mate's liars. As we say in t'north, there's a rabbit loose round 'ere And finally, as we are trading qualifications, here's mine. Hammy. FIMI, MIRTE, LAE, Cert.Eng. (Didn't do the Degree, family not priviliged enough for Uni, I was sent out to work at 15!) I have just celebrated, if that's the right word, 30 years, all with one brand, from tea boy to Senior Manager. I think that qualifies me to notice when something weird is going on. And yes, for what it's worth, I do know more than most about the Motor Trade, i just can't tell you how on an open forum
  13. I would have thought that an authorised VOSA MOT Testing station would have to be VAT registered, or not? Hammy
  14. You have to admit, it is a bit of an unlikely tale. Hammy
  15. Sorry, just couldn't resist it. If I get to remain on here without getting banned, you will see I can be helpful and constructive, given the right circumstances. Hammy
  16. Am I the only one on here that can smell fish.............................. Hammy
  17. Hi all Don't forget Coniff, the fitting of a used seat belt stalk may have put the lives of the driver, passenger, any children, and even more importantly given my user name, their pets at risk. Not to mention the pedestrians they hit after sailing though the windscreen. Surely this important, safety related repair should have been carried out using a new part. Hammy
  18. Well, i've seen brake pads go from almost new to metal-to-metal in the space of just a few thousand miles, it all depends on the driver technique and road conditions. Why does it need a pollen filter? What is wrong with the tyre, exactly. Use of the word "Knowingly" is a bit of a giveaway, you are already up for a fight. MOT is "on the Day" and not a report on the vehicles condition for sale. Fuel reserve, presumably you are gauging this by the miles to empty or trip conputer readings. If the car has been driven around the Dealership by a spotty technician the average fuel consumption will be very high due to the nature of the 7 miles around the Dealership. as you commence normal driving the range will go back up. Why is the "Sevice" suspect. Do you not think they did it, and if so, why? 2nd trip to the Garage and post No.2 and your already using the "Trading Standards" threat. Under what basis wouold you "Call In" Trading Standards? Cars cost money, they wear out, why does nobody ever want to pay????? I get my windows cleaned every month, they are alway's dirty again after a few day's but I don't accuse the window cleaner of not doing his job properly. Hammy
  19. Morning 'gross negligence', 'corporate manslaughter'. For God's sake ! Why a suspended tow? The RAC guy said it was safe after he tightened up the bleed nipple. Why not a flat-back, why not a solid bar, why not drive the thing? Obviously a sensationalist approach Maybe I should have called the operative a Technician, that way we could not mis-spell, Mechanic. dx100uk, what leads you to believe I work in a garage? Hammy
  20. Hi User6 First post but I've been meaning to post for ages so here goes. Why do you think you are entitled to a full refund? Clearly they messed up the brake repair but presumably the Service & MOT etc. were OK. Why should they refund this element? You noticed leakiing Brake Fluid on your drive but couldn't get the wheel off, then you left it two day's, which is a bit odd............ Did the RAC man report his findings in writing? You have not paid for work that was not carried out. they did the work, not very well granted, but they did do it. They may have put your life at risk! But who mentioned your family. Take it back to Lookers to fix what you believe is a problem with the wheel nuts, they will look at it for free I expect, but you have to give them a chance to put right what is, after all, only a mistake. Which bit of Health and Safety have they broken? Why would VOSA be interested, might as well call the Daily Mirror as well. Let's face it, one of their mechanics had a memory lapse and didn't tighten the bleed nipple. I'm sure you have had small memory lapses, this dosn't make him, her, or the whole garage incompetent. You have exagerated what is a miskake. You haven't allowed them to apologise or rectify this, you are going for the jugular egged on by the "someones alway's at fault culture" and "I'm gonna make some money out of this". Have you never made a mistake? Let Lookers put it right, for free, and move on. Hammy
