  1. Thanks RJP, it's good when you post a success Hammy
  2. Because I've seen this lot's of times on Focus and it's usually one of the two suggestions above. I can't remember seeing a faulty ign switch, with something loose, before. Hammy
  3. I would suggest a loose plug on the rear of the alternator, or water ingress into the loom at the alternator. A good auto electrician should sort it in about an hour, £50 ish, don't be surprised if they suggest an alternator, it could be that as well. Hammy
  4. freakyleaky: Rest assured, there're hasn't been, and won't be, any advice offered in a PM. I think we should let RJP come back with the results of today's investigations and move on from there. You can have the last word if that is what you want Hammy
  5. freakyleaky: I wanted some information, which I got thank you, that both you and I wouldn't want the OP to post in an open forum. It has, and will, help me to help to OP arrive at a more informed decision about the choice of repairs been offered when this eventually happens. Don't be so suspisious of everything Hammy
  6. What make of car was it and was it a main dealer for that car? Hammy
  7. Do you know what he programmed it with, can you descibe it? If it's still not running correctly then it's not right. Glow plug light flashing means LOS, limited operation stategy. Get you home mode designed to limit further damage. If the Glow plug is flashing there should be DTC's. Did your man recover any codes or delete the ones already stored? Injectors don't "Settle Down" I'm afraid Hammy
  8. Just my opinion of course, but I would not suggest replacing an injector at the roadside or on your drive. Apart from the possibility of dirt contamination a replacement injector on a 2.0 TDCI would need coding to the ECU if it were a new one, if it's a used one it will need re-coding as it will have been coded to the original ECU it was paired with. Be carefull Hammy
  9. I'm with GWC1000. My advice would be to speak to them and get some idea of their response. Meet the person face to face. I appreciate you want this sorting quickly but they might offer to fix the car for you or your freind. Personally i think it is a bit early in the dispute to reject the car as you havn't given them a chance to rectify the faults. The last paragraph threatens court action and you don't even know how they are going to deal with it yet. Hammy
  10. "This isn't a forum where you can say whatever you want." Just about sums it all up Hammy PS Your inbox is full and my signature has changed.
  11. Yeah, but I don't like being censored, it's not the way I work. People should speak their mind and not be forced to dumb down to follow the rest of the sheep. If someone has something to say they should be man enough to say it to my face. Hammy
  12. Shame about the edit though it gave the last half of the reply more meaning. Hammy
  13. I can take it Joking apart, if they got your £70.00 and they don't deserve it, I might be able to help you get it back. I can pick holes in their diagnosis which will help you with your side of the argument. I don't like to see people ripped off, Customers or Garages. Hammy
  14. Oakey Dokey, don't want to get into a fight on the first day of 2008 I wasn't suggesting it was a temporary repair, I was suggesting a smaller more economical, permanent repair. It didn;t work out though Nice location name Hammy
  15. EDITED Anyway sensible head on now. Did they give you a print out of the diagnostics. If not it still might be "saved" on the diagnostic equipment, ask for it, scan it, and post it or pm it back to me and I'll have a look. How was the second opinion decision reached, more diagnostics or something else, was this at another Peugeot Dealer? It's a guess, but i wouldn't expect the Peugoet diagnostic equipment to give erroneous results, interpretation of the results, now that's a different matter!! Hammy
  16. Hi Viper, welcome If they had charged you 4Hrs + £70.00 parts in the first place would this have been OK? Maybe they were trying to help you out by trying a smaller repair, it didn't work out but at least they tried. If they charge full up the first time they get accused of ripping folks off, if they try a smaller repair to keep the cost down and it fails they get accused of double billing, sometimes these smaller repairs work, sometimes not. We can't win. Why was the engine diagnostics asked for? Was there a fault and why do you think they should do this for nothing? Hammy
  17. What about the gear linkage cables have they been adjusted. When it won't go into gear, does it feel like you are not pressing the clutch, ie does it feel like it's hitting the baulk rings and not engaging gear or is it actually difficult because the gear linkage is faulty or worn or not adjusted. When it won't engage gear does it engage gears when the engine is off? When it won't engage next time, try starting the car with your foot on the clutch with it in gear and see if it moves forward, don't let antone stand in front! Lastly is it just 1st it won't select or is it diffivult to get all the gears. Can you change up and down whilst you are driving. What engine do you have and is it 5 or 6 speed? Hammy Shame i can't feel it myself!
  18. Well, if you want a fifth opinion, just to muddy the waters a bit more, it sounds like the hydraulics to me, could be the master or slave cylinder. The pressure plate is completley mechanical in operation, it doesn't really have intermitantant faults, either works or it doesn't. The Master cylinder can be changed without removing the gearbox, the slave cylinder needs the box out. Hammy
  19. A minor point but, we need to seperate Ford and a Ford Dealer. The non-Ford Dealer can get re-imbersement from the Ford Dealer who supplied the parts, the Ford Dealer in turn, can then claim the cost from Ford.
  20. I get it, say something they don't like and they close the thread. Nice
  21. Hi Johnny What is wrong with the car, does it drive or is it difficult to select gears. Why was the long story expensive and does this have any bearing on the clutch problem (no pun intended ). Has someone diagnosed a traceable fault to one of the components of the Ford kit, supplied but fitted by another garage? Did they tell you the bit that it dosn't do? Maybe, and this is only an opinion, the problems wouln't be there if it was fitted correctly in the first place. Ford is a manufacturer of cars. A Ford Dealer will replace the faulty parts if they can accuratly diagnose the problem and trace said problem to one of clutch parts, you will need a copy of the invoice for the clutch kit and related parts. Be careful however, if problem is caused by incorrect fitting of clutch or related parts you will end up with an invoice for the repair, however genuine the parts were! I'll help as much as I can on here as long as the post dosn't take a silly turn like some other recent ones. Hammy
  22. Hammy Responds HBSCrusher, I think you meant drivel, I do, of course, dribble, but only when girl Hamsters are about!! (wind up?? please explain in precise detail your remark, also wade in l do not understand this meaning what does it mean??, how do you squeeze answers out of someone??..is there a special machine to do it) 1. Flat on it's back 2. The truth eh, all we were looking for from the start was the truth. 3. "Wade In" Dic' "To make a very vigorous attack". 4. You squeeze answers out of someone, generally, by placing both hands around their neck with your thumbs on their windpipe, press gently. Only Joking Hammy

  24. Was it a K&N Air Filter by any chance. If so look at K&N's web site, dig around and you will find a section about refusal to warrany work. Get carcraft to put it in writing why they won't fix a warrantable item, the engine, and why, the Air Filter. My guess is they won't do this as they won't be able to come up with a good enough reason. Reject car under sale of goods act, quickly. Hammy
