I took advice from this site and thought I would have a try at skype.

I have to say it was alot easier than I thought.

At first I couldn't understand how I could top up my credit to make calls to landlines and mobiles (don't have a credit card), but then I saw that you could 'top up' your Skype credit at Sainsburys by buying a voucher and entering the voucher number, just like a pay & go mobile. I think you can also do it with Paypal.

So I'm going to trial it and see just how much it saves on my BT bill, plus with the help of skylook I can now record my conversations.

I've even noticed on the Skype site, that they are bringing out wireless skype handsets which allow you to receive calls away from the computer ( I'm not technically minded so I might be wrong).

Anyway, just wanted to say how easy it all was and thanks for the advice.

I started using Skype many, many moons ago, and have saved hundreds, maybe thousands of pounds since. Anyone who makes call abroad should use internet telephony.

Especially when my mother got sick, it was great to be able not wait until 8 pm to call because of the cost, or close my eyes and call anyway, and hope I would have enough to pay the bill at the end of the month. My T/west phone bill is now in average £15 a month, it used to be £150.

I bougt a handheld USB phone not long ago, but I really want to get one of those that allows wireless/normal phones as well. I think Maplin had one for 20 or 30 quids, it will be my next "big" purchase.

I got Skylook a couple of days ago, and the clarity of the recording is AMAZING! At the risk of sounding like a paid D-list celeb, I really can't recommend it highly enough.

If you contact Skylook, ask for Jeremy Hague, they will help you.

They are very good. You can even Skype them.

They are in Australia so bear in mind that there is about 11 hours difference.

tell Jeremy that you are from The Consumer Action Group
