Hi there,

I cancelled my membership at David Lloyd after 18 months in November and was told there’s a 3 month notice period.

I have paid two months of the 3 months notice but realised they had increased my membership fee by 10% without telling me in January and just taken an increased amount from my account  - so I cancelled the DD and asked if I can settle the last months payment minus the price increase as I was within a notice period.

I also asked them to remove a swimming lesson fee as they had cancelled lessons due to their employees sickness without any cover. They also made me keep the lessons for the 3 month notice period even though I wasn’t attending.

However they have ignored all this and are still asking for a final payment of £250. They have said they are within their rights to take the money from my account without a direct debit - although they haven’t yet.

They have also said if I don’t pay the final increased fee they will pass my details onto a debt collection company ARC with added fees.

any advice appreciated - thank you

IMO cancel any payments you have set up with them NOW.

AFAIK you only have to give them 30 days notice to cancel gym memberships, not three!

If you have been paying them by direct debit then use the DD guarantee and reclaim ALL of the increased membership fees you paid that you were unaware of.

And you have to chuckle at their lame attempts to intimidate customers, ''We will pass it on to ARC and add more unicorn tax to your non existent fees''. Clowns!

A debt collector has less rights than your neighbours cat, silly fools.

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...
