Hi All

A charged certificate has been issued because i missed the 28days to appeal, i was out of the country for a family bereavement.  The amount due is not £195. I want to appeal to the traffic adjudicator. What do i say is the reason for the lateness? is a valid reason to say i was away?

You can't appeal against a charge certificate.

What type of pcn is this? If it was parking and you were served the pcn on the vehicle or if it was handed to you, then you would have had a total of at least 56 days in which to make representations/formal appeal.

Were you away ALL of that time?

You can now only get the matter reset to allow you to appeal, provided you can truthfully make a witness statement.

If you wait, you will be issued with an Order for Recovery. This will enable you to make the aforesaid statement.

Be aware, it is a criminal offence to knowingly make a false withness statement, so think carefully before doing this.
