Start off by sending an SAR to Santander.

Maybe they will have details of the store cards that you are using on your bank statements et cetera.

Also, try and rack your brains as to which store cards you are using and send them all an SAR. Are you at the same address now or have you moved address in the past few years?

Santander have said I have to contact Abacus to tell them I want to cancel the claim.  I believe it was a Debenhams Store card and I have moved since that address.  I am just worried that I have to pay a fee to cancel.

So you instructed a claims management company. That's a shame. That is always money down the drain when you could do it yourself. And so did you have PPI? Most of these claims management companies only charge the percentage if they managed to locate a PPI policy and make a claim. Don't you have any details of what you might have signed with this claims management company?

Why are Santander telling you to cancel the claim?

I told Santander I want to cancel the claim because I can't find any documentation on the store card.  Santander tell me I have to check with Abacus first.

In that case there's no reason to cancel the claim. If there is nothing to claim then it will simply lapse. I suggest that you send an SAR to Santander and also send one to Debenhams. Do it tomorrow – don't hang around.

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

that fits.

satans bank wont have any details I bet

as far as I remember GE money shredded all of them years ago because they unlawfully upgraded a store card to a credit card without the consent of the borrower.

Hmm I am starting to wonder.  When I called Santander (after receiving their letter out of the blue) I asked which creditor they were talking about?  They said they believed it must have been a store card.  I said oh right, well I had a Debenhams one years ago but no info on that so please could I cancel the process.  The guy on the end of the phone insisted I phone Abacus (who I cannot find on line to email)...And gave me a tel no.  I wrote it down and I don't think he believed I had because then he asked me to read it back to him...I didn't ask to read it back, he did with me (it is normally the other way round)...  This is sounding a bit dodgy because apart from the letter I received yesterday from Santander I have no connection with them at all.  Not even a bank account.

Just reading the letter again, it also says they wrote to me before.  They didn't!

Guys...Do youu think I am about to be scammed?

Names: Abacus Financial Management (Clone of FSA authorised firm) Telephone: 0207 193 9451. Be aware that the [problematic] may give out other false details or mix these with some correct details of the authorised firm. FCA authorised firm details. This FCA authorised firm that fraudsters are claiming to work for has no association with the ‘clone firm.

I was given this number by Santander 08000235477 (I haven't rung it)....But there's a forum about 0800 numbers saying they are generally [problematic].

At the bottom of the letter it says "If you have recently responded to our previous request for information, please ignore this letter."  I have never had a previous letter.
