I have 13 separate entries for Wonga for previous pdl's which I am hoping to get removed after reading this thread. I was sent an email recently about one of my last loans being refunded and the CRA being informed. "We are working with the relevant credit reference agencies to remove records relating to this loan from your credit report. We will make best endeavours to complete this in three to four weeks.

This will be done automatically and there is no further action required from you. "e;So if I wouldn't of passed the affordability check on that surely that stands for the previous loans? Also it would seem they had changed there email and dropped the credit file improvement text here's mine from Oct 2012wonga.com "Payment reminder for your wonga.com loan Hi We hope you found your wonga.com loan useful.

We know life can be hectic, so this is a reminder that we'll be collecting your repayment of £246.41 from your debit card on 23 Oct 2012.We'll collect the amount that you owe from 5am on the promise date using the debit card details you've provided. If we can't collect the full payment when we first try, we'll make further attempts to collect the money from your debit card on more than one occasion, either in one payment or in several varying amounts, on a continuous basis until the amount you owe is repaid.

We may do this over a period of time.If you're aware of any changes in your circumstances which might mean we can't collect the full payment from your card, you need to contact us immediately - at least one working day before the collection date.We hope you found wonga.com easy to use and that we may be of service again in the future.Best wishes,

clint, what thread are you referring to in the first post ?

It is my understanding that where Wonga can be said to have lent irresponsibly, then they are obliged to follow the FCA guidelines on resolving this, including removing default entries from credit files. There is a thread regarding this somewhere and I am not sure if it is the one you are referring to in the first post.

I've emailed the original complaint to this email address also customercomplaints@wonga.com. I will await the standard response. IS it worth contacting the ICO /FCA ?

Wait until you receive a response from Wonga to your complaint - they have 8 weeks to respond, if they don't, or the response is not satisfactory then you can escalate your complaint to the ICO/FOS

Hi citizenB, I m trying to do the same. I genuinely believed "Wonga does wonder for your credit" and I thought it will rebuild my credit score. The score it has improved yet no mortgage lender would give me a mortgage. I have been in touch with Wonga and asked for gesture of good will. They have sent me a final response saying that is not their responsibility on how other lenders view their loans and they will not remove any data from Experian or Call Credit. What infuriates me is that if I had defaulted and not pay them back apparently they removed that data but because I paid them back in time and in full they are further ruining my credit. I took that loan in 2013 before we heard all about this problems.

I took my complaint to the FOS but not hopeful and trying to prove affordability and misseling .

Another statement Wonga was making at the time was that the loans are "confidential"....So how are they confidential when their mark on credit file will stay there for even 10 years? By than I d be too old to buy a house so it will simply push me into poverty probably and it is in did undue hardship so I do hope FOS will be able to help.

If not I will take them to court because I do feel strongly I was missold, lied to and not really protected in any way

Had a phone call today from them to verify my email address & they also emailed me asking for a screenshot of the CRA's entries so I have forwarded that on. They only show on Experian only Not the other 2.

surrey, Wonga are being disingenuous, they have known for a few years that their loans did nothing but damage to a person's credit history - we have reported this extensively.

It is my understanding that the FOS will look favourably on situations where the loans were properly maintained and repaid and the borrower was under the impression that they were rebuilding their credit worthiness with Wonga (and others). So hopefully the FOS will back you on this. If the first tier adjudicator gives a negative response to you.. insist on an escalation - let us know and we can help you format your further complaint for the Ombudsman proper.

This is the reply I have sent them, feel free to comment. Thanks for your reply.

Please see the below text from an email sent to myself in 2012.

As soon as we have taken your repayment, you`ll be able to apply again next time you need a short-term cash advance and keeping your promise means your Wonga trust rating will increase. This improves the likelihood of future approval and boosts your credit limit.

Also remember that repaying your Wonga loan on time does wonders for your credit rating! Also see the extract below of an article on the Money Saving Expert website. The reality is often the opposite, as many lenders view the fact you've used a payday or short term loan as a negative, as it can be a sign you're in financial difficulty.

Having a good credit report is vital to qualify for a loan, credit card or mortgage, particularly as lenders are more picky than ever. Wonga's email to customers says: "Repaying your Wonga loan on time does wonders for your credit rating!" Lenders say 'no' to payday loansMortgage lender Kensington says it will not accept anyone who has taken a payday loan in the last 12 months.

Rival GE Money also says it will not approve home loan applications from borrowers who have taken out a payday loan in the previous three months, or twice in the past year.A major lender also told us that while having a payday loan won't automatically disqualify you from getting credit, it is viewed negatively.

Too many negatives, including many credit applications in a short period, can kibosh a new application. James Jones, from credit reference agency Experian, says paying off a payday loan on time can help but "some lenders might see the fact you've taken out a payday loan as a sign your finances are under pressure".

Therefore I would politely ask you again to remove the entries. If you decide not to comply with my request then I will escalate it to the appropriate authorities.

Kind Regards

Excellent and if you are forced to escalate, this is the message you need to push home with the FOS.

@citizenB and clint I had the same response as you clint and was a final response. So FOS is now on case and I m helpful as Wonga did nothing but prove very difficult in providing the information required. and yeas I genuinly believed their campaigns of rebuilding credit. so I m hopeful. I also noticed that 71% FOS of cases against wonga were in favour of customer last year for obvious reasons because at the end of the day we the customers didnt do anything wrong but they did plenty.

Well wonga gave there full & final response which was that they done nothing wrong so now escalated to fos. Had 3 x credit card declined and a mortgage broker that viewed my credtfile state that the underwriters wouldn't touch me due to the pdl entries even tho my credit file is decent otherwise.

Just a question, if I wanted to start legal proceedings should I await the outcome of fos or just go ahead? Also what would be best course? I have found it more difficult obtaining credit with these pdl entries than I did before whilst bankrupt.
