State visit by Donald Trump?

I read the other day that he's talking about visiting and his ambassador suggested May might be a good time.

 

Given that Trump cancelled a visit because of demonstations and more or less hid when he did come over, I wonder why he thinks it would be any different this time? He certainly seems very sensitive to people expressing their opposition to his policies.

 

Downing Street are trying to play down the significance of this.

You could be right, Jase, but I'm not sure the people who demonstrated against him last time will have forgotten. I believe the Trump baby balloon is operative and has been on its travels.

My personal objection to Trump, apart from his treatment of women, vulnerable immigrants and others is that I don't think he's a friend to the UK. If we ever get round to negotiating trade deals, the US will walk all over us.

 

He treats the US's allies with derision and cosies up to dictators and fascists.

And now he's downgraded the EU, an ally and large trading partner without telling the EU.

So true and the morons we pay to govern this country will let him. We're going to lose all the protections for safe food and replace it with drug ridden/chemical soaked products. He'll insist on that as a minimum in return for any sort of trade deal.

 

It seems that concern also extends to cosmetics with potential carcinogens.

Trump's claim that his Moscow tower was only an idea seems to be coming unstuck, there's quite a lot of paperwork around.

 

The net seems to be tightening.

Cohen is with a committee of the House of Representives early next month, that will be interesting.

No he's not and he would have been too constrained with stepping on the Mueller investigation to have made it at all interesting in any event.

 

You're right. After I posted, Cohen announced he was postponing his appearance and cited being threatened, as renegade says.

Yes, the Intelligence Committee. The one he postponed is the House Oversight Committee. I suppose others could be interested in interviewing Cohen.

And now Trump associate Roger Stone has been arrested for lying to Congress, obstructing and investigation and witness tampering. Oops.

Has anyone watched 'All the President's Men' about the Watergate investigation? I think it's a fascinating film.

 

There seem to be similarities between that and the Mueller investigation to me as in senior associates being arrested one by one.
