UK Court has sent Sent form EX140 RE: child maintenance Judgement from North America

Ive been sent for EX140 by a curt in the uk based on a supreme court ruling in North America. The ruling was made under severe assumptions.

 

1. What shall i expect when i go to court with the form

2. Would i be able to challenge the ruling?

 

Any help or referral would be appreciated.

My ex-wife filed for child maintenance from North America after she took our child with her. I then got a letter from a foreign court asking me to pay more child maintenance than i am currently because she thinks Im now earning loads more money than I actually am. The judgement was reached in North America as I wasn't represented and then transferred to the Uk. I've been sent the EX140 form and summoned to attend a family court in the Uk. to pay what the court has deemed I owe.

the courts send them out and only after they've [the claimant] has attained a ccj in the uk

I got a letter from a family court in the UK ordering that I attend court for questioning. Attached to the order was the form in question.

ok so uk court sent it

i'm not 100% sure how or if there reciprocal agreements between NA/UK courts

 

 

if it was the other way around and a judgment was made in a UK court and you weren't resident I'm pretty sure you could get it set aside

IF it works the otherway around gotta admit i'm not sure

and esp with regard to child maintenance issues.

Being on that list does not always mean that things will always go the way they expect with putting this Form EX140 in.

 

So please be patient as its the weekend others will be along to advise you further.

 

Could you type what the Form says (minus any personal information to protect your identity)

its an I&E form

as long as you cover your...

 

 

that you indeed don't have anymore money..

then you should be ok.

 

 

the sad fact is your ex has probably paid some law firm a fee to do this

after being spoofed by some claims company in NA that its worth it.

 

 

I would guess its cost her several £100's of dollars already..

 

 

sadly ambulance chasers are rife in the good ole USA
