6 hours in one of my cases from initial complaint to resolution :) 975 quid paid out, outstanding amount on the credit card made into an interest free loan forever, full credit record repair.

yeah, its simply the case of getting through to the right person on the phone. if you can do that and get someone not in the call centre who is 1) a lawyer and 2) has the power to settle and refund you can get things done damn quick. this was with HFC bank and i was surprised too.

in this case not paying was actually better than paying, it saved a fortune in interest alone. the interest charge on the amount outstanding was about 35 quid a month had it not been made interest free whilst repayments are capped at 50 pounds a month until the money is paid off.

basically i stoozed them in an unconventional manner.

the only problem is banks put a layer of call centres between us and them meaning we cant contact their legal staff to discuss serious issues, we have to sue them. most people working for banks are powerless to do anything, even when you quote chunks of law at them.

i will say however the halifax for all their faults have given me the number of a "litigation assistant" who i can call rather than just sue them again so that my complaints can be settled promptly.
