Urgent appeal to find family of Liverpool Sergeant killed in World War 2

At just 19 years old, Sergeant (Sgt) Arthur Pulman should have had his whole life before him, instead he was killed when his RAF Lancaster bomber was shot down over Germany in 1944. Today, the MOD’s Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre (JCCC) is appealing for the gunner’s family to get in touch after his grave site was finally identified over 70 years after he was killed in action.

Arthur, who grew up in Dane Street, Walton, had enlisted into the RAF in February 1943, aged 18.

UPDATE:

Family of Liverpool Sergeant Arthur Pulman have spoken of their pride after his grave was formally recognised at a rededication service.

The family of Sergeant (Sgt) Arthur Pulman (Royal Air Force), an ‘unknown airman’ who was killed during World War 2, have spoken of their great pride after his grave was formally recognised at a rededication service on 13 September 2016 at Rheinberg War Cemetery, Germany.

Today’s moving ceremony, led by Reverend (Wing Commander) Ashley Mitchell RAF, was attended by Sgt Pulman’s cousin Tom Pulman, and niece Dorothy Tartt. Also in attendance were representatives from the British Embassy, British Forces Germany and local dignitaries. The service was organised by the MOD’s Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre (JCCC), part of Defence Business Services (DBS) and it included a new headstone bearing Sgt Pulman’s name.
