Hi

I'm self employed, I have filed my return on line and after checking they had received it on my account it is saying pending bank repayment of.................................

does this mean they will pay my refund directly into my bank account, its been like this since last Friday.

I didn't request a repayment it has automatically done this

Thank you

Hi,

It's not something I'm sure about but I've read that if it is more than £1,000, then you may encounter the phrase ‘pending’. A more detailed enquiry may throw up another phrase, ‘security check’. This means that rather than simply rebating money due as determined by the taxpayer – i.e. by self assessment – it is subject to human examination.

Any advice I give is honest and in good faith.:)

If in doubt, you should seek the opinion of a Qualified Professional.

Hi Sunny,

Is this your SA Return for the tax year just ended on 5th April 2016 ?

When you filed the return, did you see the tax calculation. If not, you can go back on the system and see what amount is shown as repayable.

If a refund is shown, it may be made after checks are done manually, or it may be repaid automatically. Did you supply bank details to enable them to refund.

Finally, if a refund is shown, they may be unable to refund until they have proof of tax paid. And because the tax year only ended only 9 days ago, it may be some time until HMRC have confirmation of tax paid.

Is the refund due for subcontractor's tax deducted from your income ?

Before they refund, HMRC needs confirmation from whoever deducted the tax that's to be refunded.

This may take a month or two so don't hold your breath !!
