Hi all, firstly thank you for letting me join the group
I am in need of some help regarding an independent car dealer that I bought a car off approximately 3 weeks ago. At this time I was trading in my used car for which he offered 3500. He had a quick look around the car but did not drive it at the time. The car was due a service which I made him aware off but other that this I had used the car for daily journeys with no issues at all.
yesterday I received a call from him stating that the car is overheating and he only found this out when he brought the car to the mechanic for a service as there was no water in the tank. He did advise that the mechanic put water in the tank but when he was driving it home he smelt burning and that’s when he noted the overheating issue, he did say that driving to the mechanic there was no smell or issue and this was only after he received the car back.
he states the mechanics is only up the street from him and that the car has done very little miles as he was getting it ready to sell but now cannot as it will cost approx £500 - 600 to fix.
I am not sure what he wants me to do as he said he cannot use the car now and that he will be taking a loss on the car, as I traded the car in working with no issues that I was aware off and it has been 3 weeks now, do I have to take the car back ? Or help with the costs ?
any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks
