MCDONALD'S has banned under 18s from one of its restaurants after a spate of loutish behaviour.

Police advised the fast food chain to stop letting in customers under the age of 18 after complaints about anti-social behaviour.

The move, at an outlet in Stoke on Trent, has sparked a nation wide debate about teens visiting the popular burger chain.

One of Plymouth's McDonald's restaurants was recently ordered to put security guards on the door late at night amid fears of trouble.

The branch at the bottom of New George Street in the city centre was told by the council to employ a bouncer as part of a deal that allows it to open 24 hours a day on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

In Stoke, the new ban means that under-18s can not sit in the restaurant unless they are accompanied by a responsible adult.

Bosses say they brought in the policy after police talks to crackdown on troublemakers at one of their city-centre restaurant.

A McDonald's spokesman said: "Following ongoing issues with anti-social behaviour, the police advised us to introduce a takeaway-only policy in our Meir Park restaurant for unaccompanied under 18s.

If they knew there was going to be trouble, why on earth allow them to open 24 hours ?
