Before even reading the report, I think the cost summary says a lot about the BBC

Review costs

Costs from the Dame Janet Smith Review and GoodCorporation Review of BBC child protection and whistleblowing policies can be found below.

Breakdown of costs:

  • Reed Smith (fees and disbursements): £5.4m
  • Dame Janet Smith and Dame Linda Dobbs: £724,000
  • BBC Costs: £405,000
  • Witness Legal Costs: £6,000

Total costs: £6.5m*

BBC Trust costs (external legal support): £78,614.62 (excl VAT)**

Who is going to pay for this ?

All of it, including the £3/4 million to not ask the people who worked there and reported it? - The license payer of course.

There are enough people who have made claims, and worked there, yet appear to be totally absent from the report.

I think the BBC is a great idea, but its way past time the incumbent **** at the top were all fired and prosecuted.

Lets not wait until they die - get them now.

It seems the main thought is, he was being protected because he had info on others. He may have threatened to spill the beans if they prosecuted him back then. This man took very young girls to night clubs so many in the industry would have known what was going on.

Clearly still is being protected - or at least all those others who MUST have been actively involved.

House of cards.

Its a tragic story, but I think that one is smoke and mirrors to stop people looking at the reports from staff of the time who have repeatedly claimed they reported events and were told to shut up.

it does seem (obvious) that those at the 'top' knew what was going on?

compare the 'costs' re the damages paid out to 36 victims; £526K. £5.4m for reed smith. shame.

IMO
