Our son has SEN and we have major difficulties with childcare.

Over the last year husband has had to take 3 days off work.

1st I had an accident and he had to come home half day while I was in hospital to look after our son

2nd was when he had norovirus himself

3rd day was when our son was ill.

I usually do most of childcare and work from home if son was ill but I had an important meeting to attend and we do not have any family support in the area.

Husband has now been called into a meeting regarding his abscences.

What can happen in this meeting? He's really worried

Not very much, he wont have caused Gross Misconduct or wont dismiss him unless he had something serious.

They probably just make sure that he is okay and doesnt need any special arrangements. Perfectly normal.

We could do with some help from you.

They might have decided that three absences triggers their absence management/disciplinary process.

However, if he's had one day off sick and two days dependent leave then they'd be on unlawful grounds trying to discipline him for it.

It's probably just an informal chat at this stage, so I wouldn't worry until he gets a disciplinary invite!
