With Wi-Fi you will need a good enabled router and have it situated in the right place, this can be done by using a mobile as a guide to the best place to put your router. If you can it may pay your to get hold of a good quality Wi-Fi extender like the WNDA3200 or the Belkin alternative

There aren't any problems with the kit.

It was all working fine before Win 10. Now it is back to Win 8.1 - it is working much better again

BF have you opened up the device manager yet to update the firmware for your Wi-Fi card yet?

Yup. Did that.

I'm afraid that all the evidence is that this is a problem with win 10. Thee used to be huge problems with win 8.1 wifi. They seem to have been resolved.

Looks like Win 10 may have the same issues

Even though win 10 looks and feels good its back to 8.1 for me too. Too many issues with it atm will look again in 6 months.

I have saved my new system image as a written bdrw so I can install it again at a later time

The 4 I have updated, have had no problems whatsoever. I use both ethernet cable (on this desktop) and wifi to another 2 in the house and none of them have a problem and no complaints from my friends.

I think that these kinds of issue tend to involve laptops. Desktop PCs are far more generic, I think

I actually relish the thought of problem solving with a new operating system but i've never been one for an updae-Install. Back up all your files and run the update again. When its all running, ignoring the errors, use something like produkey to decode and make a note of your new Windows10 product key. Pop over to MS and download the Windows10 media creator and do a clean install of Windows10 from a USB stick.

Mines running great with no errors whatsoever.

I used a program called belarc advisor and got all of my product keys saved the file to notepad and word for ease, this allows you to copy paste at will.. I did my first complete fresh install last night after the HD got in to trouble and ended up as a GPT partition resolved that. My friend who is an engineer said I will install it all for you, Fine I says off it went.

Not only did he not install 10 he just put 7 back on dohh, his excuse was you cannot do a fresh install what a plank I sat him down and showed him the light and all I got was "oh really its that simple" oh well these cowboys what do they know?

The first time you upgrade to windows 10 it allocates a new product key based on your windows 7 installation. You need to do it and note the new Windows 10 product key for use in a subsequent 'Clean' install.
