i had a bad debt on a credit card from about 2002 that due to a real bad relationship split went unpaid.

since being single i have never been more than 20p overdrawn since.

i'm now in a position where i need to purchase a reliable car for work and dare not apply for credit.

would it be possible to get car finance with this sort of credit history ?

thanks in advance

depends on if you have any bad debts showing on file. also sometimes if you have NO credit history it can be difficult to obtain credit.

However, I used to work in the motor trade and trust me - the sales man will do anything he can to sell you a car on finance ! lol.

would hp on a used car or a bank loan be better to go for ? thanks. i have looked on the national debt helpline page and it says records should be removed on my file after 6 years. is it possible they are still on ? i'm bloody scared stiff of checking

You need to check, although Noddle isn't always up to date, it is a good bench mark to go off.

You can also send £2 off to Equifax or Experian to get a hard copy of your files.

Defaults have a six year life span so auto drop off CRF's on their sixth birthday, if you don't check then you'll never know,

and if there are defaults on your files that shouldn't be there then you won't be able to do anything about it.

So check there's nothing to be worried about.

As for HP or bank loan, personally neither are good, but if you can't afford to buy a vehicle outright without getting into debt

then the bank would be my preferred option.

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...
