Some photo's we're accidentally transferred into this program while trying

to open them and now, every time I try to open the program, it crashes/freezes, I then

have to switch the laptop off and back on again.

 

If it is on a Mac, you need to use option A below. This will be FATAL to the system if it is instead for Windows

If it is on a Windows PC, you need to use option B below. This will be FATAL to the system if it is instead for Mac.

 

However for some versions of OS X (Mac), you need to use option B, while for version 8.n of Windows (where n is an integer, but I'm not telling you which yet!). you need to use option A.

 

I'm guessing you aren't referring to Skitch for ipad or iphone since you said "laptop" rather than "tablet".

 

Thing is, the "advice" above is next to useless (as well as being made up by me), as it doesn't give you the detail you'll need. However, it might make the point : you'll get far more focussed advice (that is more likely to be correct, too), if you give details such as

1) System

2) OS and version

3) Program and version

4) Any error logs (does it have a debug mode?)

Otherwise, any response is likely to be, at best, guesswork. CAG is a self-help site, and you'll likely need to help people to help you.

 

You say you have to turn it off and on again: have you tried instead stopping the frozen program using (Windows: Task Manager or for OS X: Force Quit)?

 

 

 

By the way, you never did reply on your other thread (see: http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?443044-Virgin-Mobile-number&p=4710234#post4710234 ), where I and another respondent had asked why it was important for you to keep a number you didn't know for a Virgin phone you'd been given that contained a PAYG SIM with no credit on it.... instead of getting a new SIM (free) from Virgin

I would have thought it was common sense! If I could have obtained the number, there would not be a problem would there ???? Hence the reason for my post!! Like I said, common sense!!

You were given advice (including by me) on obtaining the number and preventing the SIM becoming inactive. It isn't (however) common sense to want (without other good reason) to keep a SIM whose number you don't know, that you don't have access to the account (as it is still registered to another person).

I brought it up because you left that thread 'hanging', and were 'chippy' with someone there ...

The advice (to give enough detail to actually allow for reliable answers) was useful.

 

However, (both that thread and) this thread seem to show that you don't really want to be helped (by you not posting enough detail to allow replies), nor accept the help offered (including you saying on the previous thread)

So, it is OK for you to sarcastically reply to offered help, but you can't take sarcasm to prove a valid point about you not giving enough detail to allow for helpful reply.......

 

You also haven't answered my reasonable question at the end of my post, nor given the suggested details that might actually allow for a reliable reply.

 

Based on both threads, one has to wonder if you actually want help, or just want to ask for help and then argue with people?

What makes you think that I think the SIM is inactive?

 

"preventing the SIM becoming inactive" means it is clear I am aware it is currently active but also risks becoming inactive .... you recall where I told you about the differing inactivity periods? (see other thread)

 

Your inadequate quoting also makes it more difficult for people to see who has written what.

 

Overall (based on both threads so far) ; it looks to me that you wish to argue where no argument should exist, even if that means you choosing to deliberately misunderstand clear comment.
